OT: Hurricanes and Tornadoes are NOT the same

I read a recent post stating that they are the same. Wrong! A hurricane is

very large and gives warning that it has arrived by higher winds and rain.

Then it acts like all hurricanes, huffing and puffing and pushing a storm

surge of water. The water is what gets most victims, and of course the

'moronic' person that goes out in it and gets flattened by debris.

A tornado is unannounced and sudden. It can be 5 feet wide or 1 mile wide

and you can never know which it will be. It may jump a short or long

distance and you can never know which it will be. There are many more

differences, but I'll stop here. I've been in both and will take the

hurricane any time.

My grandfather was killed by a tornado, other family members have been

critically injured by tornadoes, and I've been in both. I'm still not an

expert, though. My wish would be for all of us be spared the drama or

torture of either.
