Guest guest
Hi Clora - my Rheumy won't give me pain meds either. He told me to go to a pain management clinic, but they don't take self-pay and I considered switching to another Rheumy, but they don't take self-pay either. The danged drug dealers are ruining it for everyone!! But, before I go off on a tangent, I just wanted you to know that I am in the same place you are where pain meds go. Fortunately, my PC doctor will give me pain meds, but I am at the top for what they will write. I pray everyday that it works just a little while longer. As soon as SSD and Medicare comes through, I'm changing to a new Rheumy right off the bat! In the meantime, we do the best we can with what we have. Praying you get some pain relief soon.....Doreen > > > Hi Clora: For the life of me I can not understand your Rheumy not > giving you pain meds. We do not need to suffer needlessly. Guest guest
My rheumy won't give me pain meds either. It's so frustrating! I have been dealing with neck pain for 3 weeks now. Rheumy said it was RA and go to physical therapy. Been to 5 sessions of PT and my darn neck is still hurting. Hurts so bad some days it gives me the worst headache! I got mad today, went to my regular doc. They took x-rays, just RA, BUT, they also said that I am having muscle cramps or the muscles are seizing up from the RA pain. So I got a Toradol shot and a prescription for muscle relaxers. Hopefully, this will help. I just don't understand the issues with pain meds. I do and I don't at the same time. Guest guest
My rheumatologist won't give me pain meds either. Fortunately, my GP, who I've seen for years, will give me darvocet and flexeril. > > My rheumy won't give me pain meds either. It's so frustrating! I have been dealing with neck pain for 3 weeks now. Guest guest
Hi (((((Phyllis))))) - good to see you posting again, but I'm so sorry about your neck. I told my Rheumy once that my neck will feel like my head is just too heavy to support it - he made some kind of wise crack and that was it. When it gets bad, I will support it with a pillow if I'm sitting and most times I have to just go lay down to take the pressure off. I think the pain meds issue all stems back to the drug users and dealers. People will go to these doctors, get the pain meds and turn around and sell them on the street for a HUGE profit. It pisses me off (excuse my language) because those of us that really need it now have to pull teeth to get it (not literally). Its so not fair. Praying the Toradol will give you some relief and the muscle relaxers help to keep it from seizing up on you. Will you continue with the PT? I found PT most helpful in keeping my neck limber and I try to remember to keep repeating the neck exercises at home so it doesn't get so tight again. Ask your physical therapist for copies of the sheets for the neck exercises - they are really helpful for me. Wishing you pain free days ahead.....Doreen My rheumy won't give me pain meds either. Guest guest
Dear Phyllis, I needed to write you concerning your neck pain. Have you ever considered seeing a chiropractor? Many people do not believe in the benefits of chiropractors, but I strongly believe that people with RA should be seen by one and adjusted at least once a week. I see mine at least 2-3 times a week and have been since 2005. I do not think I would be here without him. The main reason I visited him to begin with was because of neck pain, shoulder pain and back pain. The muscles in my neck get so tight that I can not turn my head from side to side, and I too get terrible headaches, especially on my left side, but a fifteen minute visit to my chiropractor always gets me through the day. He uses this little instrument called an activator on the muscles in my neck, in both shoulders, and swollen areas on my spine that instantly relaxes the muscles. It's amazing... I hope this helps, and if you ever have any questions, please feel free to email me. Take Care, (musiclvr3237) From: Phyllis son <mammap@...> Subject: Re: [ ] Re: CLORA---pain meds. Guest guest
and Phyllis, A note of caution: since the cervical spine is particularly susceptible to the ravages of RA, no RA patient should allow anyone to perform any high-velocity adjustments on their cervical spine. Additionally, a patient's cervical spine status should be known before any type of manipulation is done. Guest guest
That's right, . I had a session with a local chiropractor and ended up in pain management for more than 6 months, not able to turn my head. He had been instructed on which bones to stay away from but forgot and I realized it too late. I've learned to stay away from quack-o-practors.
