Guest guest
I have not been on the board long and really my journey with IE is a new one (Last April), however, I have been able to lose about 24 pounds thus far. Like you, I do not accept my body the way it is. I weigh 214 at this moment. I still weigh myself. I still track what I eat. I just eat what I want when hungry and stop when full. I use Fat Secret to track things. There are boards and support groups there. I started one of IE. There are very few members but that is ok by me. I like it there because I can see others struggles as well as their losses and their successes. I also get to measure what I do not like about other diets. I know that sounds a little holier than thou, however, it is helping me to see what I don't want. I currently eat about 1400 to 2000 calories a day and work off about 2500 to 3800 depending on the day of the week. While I don't know if that is the real success you are looking for that is my success Best wishes Dawn H losing lbs I don't read messages here often and I rarely post but when I do, Idon't always leave feeling uplifted. I'm usually looking for successstories in terms of weight loss. I don't know if my searches are weakor what but I never find the success stories that I really NEED toinspire me. Mostly I see stories of people who just don't worry aboutit anymore. While that's good, I don't want to weight 270 lbsforever. Can anyone share a real weight loss story? Is there an areahere that offers the kind of success story that I really need right now? Thanks so much,
Guest guest
It's sounds like you need inspiration in your life right now, a bit of light and hope. Though, I'm not sure if reading about someone else's weight loss success story is going to sustain you in the long-run. I've found that inspiration comes from within...a story may help spark or connect with a deeper place in you. When I really sat with myself, I had to admit to myself that " losing weight " was not a compelling enough reason to stay with any plan/method...and that's a key reason that diets fail. I had to discover more compelling reasons to move more and honor my hunger/fullness. Ask yourself how you really want to experience life? What brings joy to your life...and you'll feel what sparks you...that's real inspiration. I've used the energy from regularly asking myself questions or reading materials that help spark me to transform my life including my body. Transforming your life (real lasting change) which includes your body takes time...one foot in front of the other. Do I care about losing weight? Yes and No. Losing weight has some benefits (e.g., relieving pressure from my knees) though we just don't have as much control as we think we " should " over our weight. However, we can practice the IE principles...honoring our hunger, coping with emotions without using food, making movement a priority, etc. What's the prescription for losing weight? Burn more calories than you take in. The only way that I've figured that you can do this without depriving yourself is to honor your hunger/fullness, move regularly, and manage your stress skillfully. IE provides the principles for this prescription...though we have to expend the effort to practice them. I've come to believe that practicing the IE principles is about doing the best we can (at any given moment) for ourselves and that our bodies will respond to that care. I know from the core of me that I'm making a way that honors who I am...at 260 lbs and at any other weight. What else can we ask of ourselves? I hope that you find your spark and that the inspiration you need gives you strength and the energy to take the steps that you will benefit you the most. Guest guest
Excellent reply You hit all the IE 'points' ;-) I try and remind myself that IE is not about weight, but WAIT - for body signals, for what I truly need, and having faith in this body, which has been ignored (abused?) for so long it has lost its means of communicating with ME too. ehugs, Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > > > I don't read messages here often and I rarely post but when I do, I > > don't always leave feeling uplifted. Guest guest
Deborah I think that is a wonderful idea and good for you for figuring it out. Eva Thanks for your replies everyone. I hear what you're saying andappreciate you taking the time to say it. I got my IE book out andread some again last night. I realize that I'm just not at the pointto be worrying about that right now. I still have some issues withmaking peace with food, although I'm doing much better with that. MyBIGGEST obstacle is with knowing when to stop, so that's where I needto put my focus right now and let the rest fall into place on its own. Thanks again,Deborah------------------------------------
