Never saw it--terrific! I love collecting " evidence " and " proof! " You never

know when you are going to need it!

New website

Hi everyone

At last my new website, designed to help sufferers of CFS/ME is up

and running. I hope it helps. The URL is www.bertiedog.com.

Pam

This list is intended for patients to share personal experiences with each

other, not to give medical advice. If you are interested in any treatment

discussed here, please consult your doctor.

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for that, I do appreciate it. Yes, the problem is letting

people know because it costs a lot of money to register with a

search engine as far as I know. I don't mind bearing some of the

costs (domain name, web hosting etc) but I found the cost of

registering with the large search engines too expensive.

I just hope it helps somebody to get better as I have.

Hi Pam,

Thanks for posting your site. I believe it will be helpful to

many.Congratulations for preparing something like that.

Could you mention more about the supplements you have taken? Also, have you

supported your adrenals only with Glandulars? Which one did you use if you

don't mind to answer. And have you used adrenal cortex extract?

Thanks.

Millie,

Why the RNY, have you done extensive research, please consult with Nina and Dr. A, before making that big decision. I don't want to say anything, cause I'm not an expert on it, but it is extremely different then the lap band.

Hi Tracie:

Yes, I realize that it is a vast difference however I am 331 lbs and extreme problems call for extreme measures. I think, please everyone forgive me if I'm wrong, that if I were 50-100 lbs overweight. . then, perhaps Lapband would be a better option. . but, I am 175 lbs overweight... I think that by the time I lost that with lapband I would be 100 years old and it would not matter by then.

I want the majority of my excess weight off within, say, in 1.5 years. . .

Now, if my expectations are wrong. . . that's what I'm here for. . please someone correct me.

Respectfully,

Milagros (Millie)

Congratulations on your success. . sounds to me like your utilizing this tool to it's utmost potential. I've struggled with weight loss my entire life. I'm an ex-bypass surgery patient. Had it done back when they were still being done on guinea pigs <SMILE> 1979. . . unfortunately, at that time not enough research had been done and there were a lot of the pieces misses and I had to have it reversed in 1984. I went from 269 lbs to 117 lbs. Over the past 20 years I've slowly regained at the rate of about 10 lbs per year. . . it is horrifying and depressing beyond words.

I want my life back. I want to dance, do on low-impact hikes. I want to be able to enjoy a day at Disneyland with my family. . and most importantly, I want to live long enuogh to see my grandchildren.

I have a great life. . . three wonderful grown-up daughters. . . but, I still want to enhance those wonderful things I already have. Be it with RNY or Lapband or perhaps something else that will work. I just want my life back.

Goodness. . did I get on the soap box or what??? LOL

This is a great group and any reservations I might have had about "Mexico" have been dissipated by the wonderful support this group has given Dr. Aceves and Nina and the entire staff.

Affectionately,

Millie

Millie, I cannot find

and did not read your original post or Tracies (Still trying to Network

Microsoft outlook and I think I am missing messages) so I will just go by this

one. WLS is a very personal decision. No one else can tell you, and shouldn’t

tell you, what surgery you should have. The main thing is that you MUST do the

research and choose what is best for you. If you have already done that, then

great! As far as your expectations. The lapband and the RNY are what you make

it. Each one is a tool and you must utilize the tool. I am 4 months out and

have lost 60lbs with the Lapband. Not everyone has the results that I have had

with Lapband. And if you read the RNY message boards, some on there are struggling

!! I read one post where a lady had only lost 20lbs in 6 months with the RNY. Then

there are some who have not lost with the Lapband. They are TOOLS and it

depends on how you use that tool.

I think a lot of us forget that this

group is for Dr. Aceves patients which include RNY-ers and Lapbanders. I know I

forget too. We must be supportive of EVERYONE.

Hey Millie,

Good Luck in whatever you do. I am sure if you have done the research and have consulted with Dr. A and Nina and this is the road for you. We are all so different in what our needs/expectations are. I don't think anyone can say what is better for someone else. I just think it is great that you are doing something to improve your life. It is very exciting. The people on this site have a lot of good insight and advice.

I am learning allot everyday and hope to have the lapband very soon.

Have a great day!

Millie,

I hate to tell you this but having had a previous weight loss surgery makes your situation very different and having it reversed is almost like another surgery. It is not easy to do either lap band or second RNY please email me or call me so I can explain this a little more and see what your options are. We have done a second weight loss surgery succesfully on many patients but like i said it is a different scenario.

My

aunt had her bypass in 1984 and is looking to have a revision or have the band

as well. She also slowly gained back some of her weight. I think when I was

still trying to figure out what surgery I wanted, what sealed it for me was the

fact that with the RNY you have a window of time, I believe 18 months, in which

to lose the majority of your weight. Also, the fact that 2 of my family members

had the RNY and after 3 years they gained some weight back. I knew that with

the band, I could just go back in for a fill if I started to eat more or gain

weight back. In other words, I didn’t want to have to worry about my

weight again a few years down the road. Again, this is my personal opinion and

the reason why *I* chose the lapband.

I do read the main board at OH and know of some RNY-ers that have kept their

weight off for over 3 or 4 years. So it is a personal and individual thing.
