I am really sick of many months of the methotrexate shots--especially as they

don't seem to be helping.

tonight I bled like a stuck pig.

must have hit a vein

anyone know if that is a big problem? or even a little problem?  this is the

first time to bleed and need a bandaid

thanks,

susan

Hi - I take my MTX by injection also. When you put the needle in, do you

pull back on the plunger/thing before you press in the MTX? I do this to make

sure I am not in a vein. Sometimes I bleed a little anyway after the injection.

There are lots of little capillaries in there and its easy to nick one

inadvertently.

Sorry to hear the MTX doesn't seem to be working for you. Are you taking

anything else for your RA? How long have you been on the MTX? There was a time

when I thought it wasn't doing any good either until I got an URI and had to go

off the MTX while I was on antibiotics. After missing the 2nd dose, I KNEW it

was doing some good because of the pain I was in.

Talk to your Rheumy if you feel you are not getting adequate pain relief.

Everyone has a different " cocktail " of meds that work for them. Unfortunately,

its all trial and error until you get the right mix.

Doreen :)

Rats! I erased instead of sent the message, so here goes again. I appreciate

talking about this on our group--it makes things feel less overwhelming. I'm

trying to get a 2nd opinion from another rheumy and struggling to get in. I've

been on MTX for 10 months, also 2 plaquenil, 4 sulfasalazine, prednisone,

bio-identical hormones, lots of calcium, Vit D.

The group really helps keep a perspective and make me grateful for what I've

got, like still working 20 hours a week. My husband encourages me to quit and

concentrate on getting my health back. I wonder if that's just a dream or

actually possible. I was diagnosed a year ago. New symptoms pop up, like

troubles with the right hand from fingers clear up above the wrist. I'm

thinking about Humira. Everything has a bad aspect to it, it's hard to weigh

out the right choices. I know one thing, I need a new rheumy. The current one

won't comment on diet, exercise, vitamins, etc. Thanks for the reply, Doreen,

I'll take your advice on the next shot.
