Guest guest
Kerry, I have been using (quite happily, with good results) the Reviva " oily skin cream " but I was interested in the Desitin. Shopping at the pharmacy this am, I noticed there were two varieties of Desitin--one appeared (from the ingredient list) to be an ointment; one appeared to be a cream. Are you folks who are using Desitin, using the cream? I also checked the 's Baby Cream which I thought had been recommended, and containing both zinc oxide and dimethicone--am I wrong on this one? The baby cream only listed dimethicone, no zinc? Thanks for any help you can give me Carol _______________________________________________________ Get your free, private email at http://mail.excite.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Thank you for the ingredient list and clarification on the name of the and product--there are so many products out there, and it gets confusing. I don't have babies to help me with knowledge in these matters, either. I try things first on my forearms, because they react similarly to my face with anything I put on it. Most " moisturizers " make me itch and now I am finding it very difficult to find the " Nutraplus " by Galderma that I'd used for a very long time (arms and legs) successfully. Appreciate the information, Carol _______________________________________________________ Get your free, private email at http://mail.excite.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guest guest
Here are the ingredients for the & Diaper Rash Ointment: Active Ingredient: Zinc Oxide Other Ingredients: Water, mineral oil, dimethicone and dimethiconol, glycerine, white petrolatum, lanolin, sorbitan isostearate, panthenol, sodium lactate, microcrystalline wax, synthetic beeswax, magnesium sulfate, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate, hexamidine disethionate, lactic acid. It's white -- just looks like the stuff lifeguards wear on their noses. ------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Hi Carol, I use the regular Desitin which is very thick. It contains 40% zinc oxide compared to the Creamy version which is only 10%. The regular kind also contains Cod Liver Oil which may or may not be good in general, but seems to be good for me. On the plus side for the Creamy version, it contains dimethicone, it does not contain lanolin to which many are sensitive, and it is probably much easier to remove from the skin than the original kind. The 's that was mentioned was not just a cream or lotion but a zinc baby bum cream like Desitin-I don't know exactly what it is called but I've seen it at certain stores in the baby section. I keep meaning to look at it myself, so I'll post the ingredients in case anyone else is interested. Guest guest
<< I'm not sure I want to put this stuff on my face. I question whether it might work fine initially and then cause other sensitives over time??? Guess it just depends on how sensitive your skin is.>> I didn't want to put it on my face either, but it really has helped. I've thought about just using straight zinc oxide, but that's drying, and that can make things worse. Even though the stuff is full of potential irritants, it seems to be making a difference for me -- toning down the splotchy redness I tend to get and also -- knock on wood -- I haven't had a red bump appear in almost two weeks. I'm seeing a new derm Friday -- I'll let you know how that goes. Also, has anyone gotten a catalog from Lifestyle? They advertise Chang Sheng Herbal beauty soap, which they claim fights the Demodex mite. Here's their pitch: " If you've ever looked in the mirror and thought you're too old to be breaking out, think again. Blotchy skin and blemishes affect people of all ages! Here's why: Scientists recently discovered a tiny parasite called Demodex human, which feeds on our skin and can cause adult acne. All of us are unwilling hosts for these intruding parasites, and their numbers tend to increase as we age. According to the New York Times, the only people who don't have them are newborn babies! Severe infestations can cause a permanent, disfiguring condition known as Acne cea. Now you can fight back against these nasty invaders with this award winning soap. " The cost: $29.95 for two bars. Has anyone tried it? I generally can't use soap at all on my face, and I've had good luck with Aderma Septalibour. I admit it's tempting though, I'll try anything to get my skin back to its former normal healthy state. Am I just being a sucker?
