Guest guest
Hi Dawn, Nioxin is the hair product that I told you about. I havent looked into the why it works part, but I know people that have gotten great results from using it for their thinning hair. It is a product that promotes hair growth not to cure rosacea. Someone mentioned that he had heard someone claim that it cured theirs. I know that even if there is a connection between hair loss and rosacea with the demodex mite, I would be hesitant to put a hair product on my skin. Lord only knows what chemicals are in it. I'll have to check it out the next time I come across it. Guest guest
Margaret, Nioxin is a hair product system to help thinning hair. I have seen it work great on people that were losing their hair. It increases the circulation and blood flow on the scalp and helps unplug the follicles that might be contributing to hair loss. You can purchase Nioxin at a hair salon that carries the line, or at a beauty supply store in your area that will sell to the public. They sell it through their web site also. I checked out their web site and there is an insert of a person claiming that by using it that it cleared up their rosacea. Nioxin claims to help kill the Demodex mite that they feel can cause hair loss. We all know that there has been talk of a connection between rosacea and the Demodex mite. The insert doesnt say if the rosacea cleared by just scalp application or putting it on the skin. I remember having the treatment put on my scalp and some of the lotion got on my forehead. Well, it turned quite red. This was pre rosacea. The guy I know who uses it said that this happens and goes away quickly, which it did. So, like I said before this product isnt meant to treat rosacea and I wouldnt put it on the skin, especially after witnessing firsthand how red your skin becomes when in contact with it. If you have seb derm on the scalp it would be interesting to see if it would help that, but I would apply it carefully to avoid any contact with the facial skin. Guest guest
I'll second that -- I remember a group of men on alt.support.skin-diseases who were practically frying their faces with lice shampoo to go after the mites -- it definitely sounded like the treatment was worse than the cure.
