Guest guest
It never hurts to ask the places where you're staying if they have a refrigerator in any of the rooms. If you stay at B & Bs, most will have a kitchen refrigerator that you can us. I use cold packs, and try to re-freeze them at night. Almost any hotel will provide ice if you ask for it, especially if you tell them why you need it. Again, it helps to talk or email them in advance so they'll know what you need. For us, the availability of ice is one of the things we consider before choosing a hotel/B & B. For use in the US, I have a cooler that plugs into the car, but it's too big and heavy for air travel. Guest guest
coleman makes a fridge/freezer for camping that you can plug into a car and I do believe into an outlet as well. best place I can tell you to look is bass pro, outdoor world, dicks sporting goods and sometimes I have even seen them at walmart. they do not come with a conversion kit for EU and Scotland so you will have to call coleman after getting it to get a kit for it. [ ] Overseas travel and the care of Enbrel Hi everyone, This fall my husband and I will be doing a 2 week road trip thru England and Scotland. Does anyone have any hints for keep Enbrel cold on these kinds of trips? Most of the places you stay do not have refrigerators and ice is often hard to come by (not like here in the States). I know a small cooler will work on the airplane but driving around - winging it as my husband puts it, may make it a little harder. Does anyone know of any coolers that can be plugged in once we get to hotel/place to sleep? I remember seeing cooler for truckers that plug into the outlets in cars. I don't know if that is even possible in England. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Guest guest
Lucky you, Skip! I'm jealous. I would think that the places where you stay have a refrigerator in which they could store your Enbrel for you, that is, if they don't have one that they can put in your room. I went on a bus trip out West and managed to keep mine cold on the bus by putting it in the Driver's compartment that was insulated. The places we stayed provided a refrigerator for my room, except in Yellowstone. There, they kept it in their refrigerator for me. The Enbrel people provide a little insulated carrier bag that you could put an ice pack into, if you had a way to refreeze it. Guest guest
We did the same trip a couple of years ago and I found everyone very helpful. We stayed in B & B's most of the time and they  would refreeze my blue gel packs which I kept in a small lunch sized cooler and let me put it in their refrig at night. A couple of times I got ice where we would eat. There was a couple of times that I could not get ice and I bought a pack of frozen vegetables at the grocery and used that. If you use the 25 mg unmixed it can go for longer without being as cool. Consult enbrel web site for exact times as I can't remember. We had a delightful trip and I hope you do to. linda From: skiplw284 <skiplw284@...> Subject: [ ] Overseas travel and the care of Enbrel Date: Sunday, March 22, 2009, 1:16 PM Hi everyone, This fall my husband and I will be doing a 2 week road trip thru England and Scotland.
