Guest guest
HI Cheryle, I have wondered this myself. I have two clients who have fibro and terrible bouts with Meniere's. One also has Lupus. All I can think of is they are all autoimmune diseases and where one pops up, others seem to follow. For the bouts of Menieres, I have found aromatherapy works wonders for both clients. Both ladies seem to respond well to a combination of lemon grass and lavender essential oils. It cuts down their vertigo and nausea. Both essential oils are easily found at health food stores and blend well with almond oil or any unscented oil. Both ladies keep cloth handkerchiefs doused with the scents and also put the oil on pulse points. It sounds simple and silly, but hey it works for them. Guest guest
Hi ...thank you so much for the info you have about Meniere's. I am all for trying simple, natural treatments before trying anything else. I had such a bad attack on January 11th that I could not walk, become very diapheretic, vomited harshly for 3 or 4 hours and was taken to the hospital by ambulance where I had an MRI to rule out a stroke or brain bleed...which thankfully I did not. Milder episodes which were still awful continued for days and still occur occasionally. I was so frightened I still wait for the 'other shoe to drop' and another episode to occur. I keep anti-vertigo medication with me just in case. I drive to work and find myself a much more defensive driver as the fear of an attack is always present. I am scheduled for more tests. I so appreciate your info and willingness to share. Thanks... Cheryle in Oregon
Guest guest
Hi Cheryle, I missed the original post but I wanted to respond. I, too, have Meniere's. I have had it about 7 years. When it first hit I thought I had a brain tumor and would die shortly. I have some terrible horror stories I could share (and some pretty funny ones). I take medication daily (Maxxide) and I have valium on hand at all times. If I feel something coming on, I take a valium immediately. Sometimes it helps, sometimes not. The good news is that remission does/can come. I have been in remission for a few years now. By remission, I mean no full blown vertigo. I still have dizziness and " brain fog " on a fairly regular basis but I still am able to drive, work, etc. When I have had regular vertigo, I didn't even trust myself to drive. I have not been diagnosed with RA but with something called poly-something arthritis. Doc thinks it my end up being psoriatic arthritis. Anyway, I have never come across anyone else with Meniere's so it's nice to meet you! _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of mercycove Sent: Monday, March 30, 2009 5:51 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Meniere's - RA? Guest guest
On a trip I took, I met a woman who had Meniere's. We had something in common: our medications needed to be refrigerated. Mine was Enbrel, and hers was for Meniere's. She seemed to be doing well. In another online group that I'm on, one of the members also has Meniere's. He is not doing well with it.
