Guest guest
Hi Clora. I am glad your new Rheumy is trying to help you get out of all your pain and suffering. I do know how hard it is to live with that pain. I hope those shots continue to help you. You now have a Rheumy who listens to you, goes over your tests with you, and who is also spiritual. I know that is important to you.  I go to Mass when I can. I can't kneel anymore, but am happy to sit. When my feet and ankles are very bad and hurting, I go nowhere. If I can't stand on them, I sure can't walk on them. Such is my life with RA.  My hair has always been baby fine and thin. I wear it very, very short, and am just glad to have hair on my head. I am happy your are going to a hairdresser. You will be surprised when you get a good haircut and it hides any imperfections in your hair. It will be the new, happier you. I am happy you have lost 50 lbs. so far. That is a rough surgery, but it has helped so many people to lose weight.  Good for you.  Osteo arthritis can be very painful too. When I had my left knee replaced last year, it was loaded with O A, and R.A. My knee just collapsed out of the blue, hence the surgery. Both knees and my hip are good now.  I pray you get out of your pain, and have better days ahead. Glad to see you posting.  Love and hugs,  Barbara      From: Kate -Behan <microminimalist@...> Subject: Re: [ ] HELP, My hair is falling out at an alarming rate Date: Tuesday, June 15, 2010, 10:01 AM Are you taking a folic acid supplement with your MTX? If not, you should be. If you are, you may need to be taking more. Vitamins E and D can help too, but folic acid is the big one with MTX. Thyroid problems can also cause hair loss, sometimes severe. I would definitely talk to your doctor. It's not vain to be concerned about your hair falling out, it can be a big source of anxiety for people, whether it is drug induced or not. If it bothers you, it should be dealt with. I had bad hair loss the first year I took MTX, but upping my folic acid helped. My hair definitely isn't the same, but it's not patchy like it was. I found a young hairdresser who is a cancer patient, so she " got " what I was talking about, and was able to cut my hair to cover the bald patches. Glad to hear you've had improvement on the medication, though! Kate P-B, STL MO Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry
Guest guest
Hi Barbara, love to hear from you always. I have gotten so close to you and a few others here. It is so good to spill your heart out when your hurting so much and people not complain about it. I am feeling so much better today. Much less pain. My knees ached so bad I could hardly stand or sleep at night. The pain shot has taken a lot of the pain out of my knees. I had darvecets on stand by I took a couple times every day . (only have about 10 left) I don't need to take a darvecet today. Mind ya I still have pain. but is is bearable. My shoulders are pretty bad but they don't ache and keep me awake. I asked for shots for them but he said wait awhile. Yes my rheumy took the time to go over my tests. He is concerned about my blood test. He said they don't make sense, so he had me get blood test again. Does anyone have a high thyroid count? If so let me know what your doc does for it please. I am so glad you go to Mass. My son n law is Catholic and I fuss at him to go to Mass. I am not of the Catholic faith but they do believe in Jesus Resurrection and gave birth to Jesus being a virgin. So we basically believe the same. My daughter is changing over from Protestant to Catholic. I said as long as you believe that Jesus died for our sins and was resurrected. I respect all religions and all non-believers. I am so glad we live in a country where we don't have to hide to worship. Barbara I never had my stomach stapled like I was planning. I had a growth on my tummy and they couldn't operate till I got it cleared up. It's gone now and I can have it but I am losing on my own cause I stopped taking Lyrcia. I don't think my rheumy believes in fibromyalgia. I believe in fibro cause I've had it since I was about 24. Over the years dozens of doctor could not find out what was causing me so much pain. He just didn't bring it up when he was diagnosing all my conditions. I had a nice head of hair but it wasn't thick. Now I am like you , I am just glad I got some hair on my head lol! I can't kneel anymore. I don't think God minds. We have knelt all those years when we could. I have a good christian joke for ya. These 3 old guys was chatting in front of their favorite meeting place. They were discussing the best position to pray. The first guy said my best praying time is when I stand at the window with my arms up, praying early in the morning. The second guy said my best praying time is when I knell down on my knees. The third guy said is best praying is when I was hanging upside down in the well praying .. So if you pray God hears. I know a little about osteo, so I will be checking on the net to find more about it. I know it's when your pads in your joints wear down and you have bone rubbing bone so I will check for sure. My doc said I got to have some exercise. I am looking forward for that. I am afraid to just exercise un-supervised by a doctor. I could really hurt myself. God bless everyone Clora
Guest guest
Hi Clora. I am always happy to hear from you. I think it is so wonderful that you lost all that weight on your own. Congratulations to you!! Wow, I am glad you got that growth taken care of, and that you don't need that staple surgery either. Worked out good for you.  I don't know anything about Fibro. I just know people who have it suffer great pain. Another ugly disease to deal with.  I am so happy that your pain is less for you. I do know how much you have suffered daily pain since we met. There really is light at the end of the tunnel for us. I hope your shots and meds. continue to help you.  My whole time home last week I was in agony. It was 62, cloudy, rainy and damp. I could hardly walk and spent most of my time lying down. My little granddaughters played on the bed and I read to them. I was happy for that. I can't tolerate the N.E. weather at all. That is why I moved to Florida.  I used to walk a lot but due to the heat here, I just can't do it. The heat index today was 104 degrees......too hot!!!! I have thought about going to a place for exercise, but would need someone to train me so I don't get my RA going. I don't want to hurt my joints either.  I am having that RA nodule removed surically next Thurs. and I will be glad to get it taken care of. It is so painful and makes it hard to walk. I hope this is my last surgery!!!  I am wishing you many pain free days ahead. Take care and rest as much as you can.  Love and hugs,  Barbara
