Hi ,

I remember Dr. Nase saying photoderm would really benefit a person if they

have facial inflamation (swelling cheeks, nose or chin) with stinging and the

bumps too!

Well, originally I had a combination of acne- and rosacea-type symtpoms like

small-medium sized pimples, about1-2 a month - just when they'd go away, another

would take its place:( Also, I had slight redness (along with some

telangietsia) around, not on, my nose and on my chin and just a general

ruddy/pink/blotchy complexion. I also had the periodic trigger-induced

flushing, but didn't realize it was a symptom until I starting reading about

rosacea.

After treatment for a couple years now, I haven't had a pimple in almost a

year-and-a-half and my blotchiness is basically gone. I still have a slight

pink complexion that comes and goes, but that also seems to be less pink as time

goes on. I don't get any of the red " bumps " (as opposed to pimples)

characteristic of rosacea unless I skip consecutive applications of my lotion

(which I use 2x a day). So, I feel pretty good about how my skin looks,

compared to before, although I still feel the need to wear light foundation. I

gauge my progress by the amount of makeup I wear - it's been getting less and

less, but I very rarely go without so I think there's still room for

improvement!!

A little long-winded, sorry....I think my derm believes that my symptoms can be

controlled simply by the lotion itself and is trying to ween my off the

antibiotics. He also feels that laser surgery is damaging to the skin and it

wouldn't be worth the damage in my case, since my skin is pretty good.

At this point, from how I described Photoderm to him, he thought it sounded more

damaging than laser - however, please note that his opinion (he's also a

dermatological surgeon) isn't a true " informed " one at this time, it was his

first impression based solely on what I told him. I can understand his caution,

because I haven't (yet) been able to find any " hard-core " data on Photoderm in

the derm'l journals- just anecdotal evidence from this list and info on

commercial web sites from those trying to sell their procedures or photo-derm

equipment. I'm hopeful, but still a little skeptical myself.
