I live in Vancouver and my derm, who's with UBC Faculty of Med., has never heard of Phooto-derm either. When I described it to him, he was a little suspicious of it and thought it would be more damaging to the skin than the traditional laser surgery, but said he'd be interested in reading any info. I had on it. > I sent an e-mail to Dr. Bitter asking for > more information from his clinic, but I haven't heard anything yet. You know, I always wonder who all these people are, like Dr. Bitter and others who have commercial web pages on the net - do you think they're legitimate, peer-respected dermatologists, or do you think they're out to make a quick buck? > Tae-Bo and my cea definitely don't mix, and I was wondering if any > of you have tips on how to combat flushing when exercising. I have the same problem - I just have to make sure I don't do anything too strenuous, so I do a low-impact step aerobics instead. Unfortunately, I'm not getting as intense of a workout as I would like, but I don't know any way around it ------------------------------------------------------------------------ eGroups.com home: /group/rosacea-support - Simplifying group communications
Guest guest
Hi Simone I was worried about exercise exacerbating my rosacea - so much so that I gave it up for a couple of months. However, I felt awful and my skin didn't get any better. I went back to the gym about 6/8 weeks ago and I feel so much better in myself. Feeling fit and strong is great for my body image (and I need all the help I can get with that). My skin has not worsened at all - with all the tips and support from this group it is in the best shape its been for a long while. However, I don't do any really vigorous exercise any more - no running or anything that causes me to work very hard. I go to the gym and work mainly with weights and do some stretching. I think the days of exercising until I drip are are gone for me, and actually I'm really pleased about it. When I posted to the group I got a lot of advice. A lot of people had given up exercise completely, but others felt that this wasn't an option. If you do choose to continue, this is a summary of the advice I remember: 1 Moderate the intensity of the exercise 2. Break up the exercise into smaller chunks ie not 1x hour workout but 2 x half hour 2 Exercise in the cool - early or late in the day 3 Drink plenty of water 4 Put a freezer block (the thingys you put in a lunch box to keep food cold) and a flannel into a bum bag and use it to cool off during exercise. You can use this in a class without having to pause.
