Guest guest
, Yes, it's very frustrating to see that there is the technology available to finally treat cea, but be unable to find anyone who is trained in it! Jen wrote that it is available in Calgary, so one would think that someone in Vancouver would be using Photoderm. My husband said he would be willing to fly out to Calgary for the treatment, but when I told him I could need up to 8 treatments, that option went out the window! I also want to have a reputable, well-known doctor do the procedure. I don't want to be anyone's guinea pig that's for sure! Do you know if the number of photoderm treatments needed correlates to the severity of the rosacea, or is 6-8 treatments pretty standard? Just wondering, thanks for your input! I'm not sure what is standard, although I think I've heard on the list that 2-3 might be an average number? Do you know that you need 8 treatments for sure? I think the severity would likely determine the number of treatments needed. I wouldn't want to be anyone's guinea pig either! It's curious that it's not well known in Canada - maybe it's only recently been approved here, whereas perhaps the US gov't approved it awhile ago. As far as I know, the UBC/Van Hospital laser centre is very reputable and they don't mention it on their web site. And, my derm who is with UBC, is trained in dermatological surgery, so you'd think he'd know about it if anyone did. My next appt. is in July, at which time I'll bring him the info on it - I probably won't hear back from him until my next 2-month follow-up which will be early Sept, so I'll post his thoughts on it then. Either way, he said my rosacea doesn't require any such procedure so it won't really matter in my own personal case (not yet anyway), but I'm curious to see what he or his peers will think about it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ eGroups.com home: /group/rosacea-support - Simplifying group communications
