Hi all,

I realize that one of the over-reacters to whom Dr. Sy is referring is moi

so I'd like to respond. I'm not a doctor so my comments mean very little,

but I realize that there are times when cortisone is the best option. I

want to point out that some of us here have had some pretty devastating

reactions to certain products and medications, and that our messages must be

seen with a sympathetic eye for the trauma's we've suffered. I only mean

that over-reactions should be seen for what they are-emotional responses to

traumatic events (some of us aren't so good at seeing these for what they

are until much after the fact-like me!). It is my opinion, and an opinion

only that those who don't suffer from this condition do not understand the

psychological impact no matter what their education or experience. By the

same token, most of us are not physicians and the experience and education

of doctors helps us all tremendously. I meant only to apologize for my

previous over-reaction and explain myself, but I ramble as usual...

Cheers,

Kerry

After 24 years in practice, I understand more than you can imagine. And.....

empathy, experience and finally, acquired wisdom - not education - are what

made me understand.

I would like to put in my two cent's worth here...I believe the

" non-understanding by anyone except a rosacea patient " comes from the idea that

many of us have gone to dermatologists (and may have tried a LOT of them) and

perceived that the doctor didn't seem interested, informed/educated about the

rosacea condition, and didn't or couldn't help us much. It's a frustrating

experience which I'm sure most of us have had.

Last night I went to and Noble Bookstore and looked at their selection

of health books and I found one that looked good. A big shot derm wrote it

and it was supposed to cover everything. SO I look up rosacea and there is 3

page references -- I go to #1 and it says all about acne then it says

....rosacea is a chronic condition but we will talk about that later on in the

book. So I look up #2 and the page says nothing about rosacea . .. door #3

please! It talks about laser (I think good) and finally dabbed in the middle

it say laser for enlarged vein on the cheeks or nose due to rosacea can be

treated with laser. This was a recent book to (96)

This book was huge and this doc said ZERO about rosacea. Like it's not even

important enough to warrant a section of it's own! The problem is most doc's

don't know and don't care to treat rosacea (my experience). Dr. Nase I am

telling you when you put your book out there will be absolutely no

competition out there for you!! Most are clueless!
