I'm the group moderator and yes it's my job to question people that might be disruptive. And if you read what I wrote...gee, I thought that's what I said. That each of these drugs is different. What works for one person doesn't work for another. Some of your posts are far from neutral. And yes, Re: Believing everything you read; that includes this group and your posts. As I said. YMMV. Trying to scare people who are probably scared already is not my idea of being helpful. I do tell people and have told many people that Lex may not be the correct drug for them. But there ya go. And by the way, I didn't question your right to post. You misread that. I was referring to people that are doing well: What reason do *they* have to post. Please, before you jump someone you might want to make very sure your position is secure. *Read* what was said. Reread it again for clairity. I do. Barbara BARBARA who are you? do you own this GROUP? I joined this group recently for support (which I have been emailed by a few of you with SUPPORTIVE thoughts and suggestions) I can't believe you would inquire someone's right to post here! Did you read the description of the group? maybe you should change it to *only positive experiences while taking lex*. secondly, I do not buy into the *everything you read online is bad* I guess since we are online, this applies to YOU? I have met some nice people through here, but did not expect someone basically implying I have no right to post here. I have only posted neutral, never TELLING SOMEONE they should take lex. (unlike others, YOU) It is a personal decision. GREAT for some, not right for others. Thanks for the welcome. right back at ya.
Guest guest
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I just found out that some friends I haven't seen in over a year are going to meet us in Cleveland after all is said and done next Friday. The support we all have you never really know till things start happening. I hope all goes well with you and that things get moving in the right direction for you also. achalasia From: arnoldisabella@...Date: Thu, 8 Nov 2007 23:43:13 -0800Subject: Re: Re: Barbara Hi , Glad to read this, as I really didn't know what to think when Dr. Rice had given you a Nissen... I can imagine the mental and physical toll everything must have taken on you these last few years, many of us here on the board will. This last year I find the mental toll very hard to take, living from treatment to treatment, from surgery to surgery. You just want the whole thing to be over and done with! I am awaiting the final OK from my surgeon to go for the -ectomy, he is checking the last details as to make sure it definitely is the right decision for me. Just a few more days and you'll know where you stand. Good luck, Isabella Re: Barbara The wrap that Dr. Rice done on me was the dor. Guest guest
was in surgery for about five hours today as he had some complications. We just came from the hospital and he is still asleep. They are keeping him intubated until 6 a.m. in the morning. The top part of 's stomach was very friable and after Dr. Rice had everything together he had a lot of bleeding and so he had to take it loose and pull the stomach back down and cut away the friable part and then he had just enough to attach the stomach to the esophagus. Will keep you updated. We will get to see him again tomorrow at 10. We want to hear his voice as Dr. Rice said that he had to cut close to the back of the trachea and he said he was sure that he didn't do any damage to the nerves to the vocal cords but we want to hear him speak so that we can rest assured that everything is okay. Continue to keep him in your prayers and I will keep you posted as much as possible. Barbaramichelle <mcnairmichelle@...> wrote: Hey Barbara - how did do with his surgery? I am sorry to hear about the complications he went through, but glad to hear Dr. Rice managed to "fix" it. I know this must be hard on you too, seeing your child, even when he is a grown man, in the state is in right now. Keep in mind why this has been done and how things are going to change for the better soon! I will continue keeping in my thoughts, hoping for a speedy recovery. Guest guest
Good news... is doing great. His is talking and Dr. Rice said this evening he was progressing great. He said his lungs were good, vocal cords were voice were great, and there was no bleeding. They are planning on moving him to a room tomorrow afternoon. They have been turning him and he has been coughing like he should so that he doesn't get pneumonia. I am so happy and cry joyful tears seeing the difference in him. He is so happy even though they are keeping him very sedated with pain meds. Will keep you posted. Continue to pray for him and us. Guest guest
Just came from the hospital. is progressing along good. They moved him out of ICU this afternoon to a room. They are going to put him in a private room as soon as one comes available because of all his tubes and lines the nurse said. They are going to get him up tomorrow to walk. That is going to be an experience for the first time since surgery. But I am very pleased in how well he is doing. Will keep in touch. Guest guest
Hi , I am sure you are getting very anxious as your time approaches for your ectomy. I will keep you in my prayers and pray that all goes well for you like it has for . He is progressing very good. He was discharged from the hospital yesterday and we are staying at the motel until he sees Dr. Rice on Tuesday morning and if all is still going good, then we will get to take him home. It is amazing the difference in him. He is progressing on his tube feeds. He is becoming very adept with the tube feeds. They came to the motel and set him up with his pump and the Osmolite. Will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Barbaramichelle <mcnairmichelle@...> wrote: Hi Barbara - thanks for keeping us updated. Guest guest
Hi Betty: Thanks for your good wishes. I can't wait to have mine done. I was up all night with the pain in my knee. Took more pain pills at 4 a.m. I hope all goes well for your sister-in-law. I had my hip replaced 2 years ago, and it is perfect now. The marvels of modern medicine. Wishing you pain free days ahead. Guest guest
Hi Betty:    You are so sweet and kind. I thank you for your kind words. This is what this group is all about. Everyone trying to help each other, with words of comfort, help, and just caring.    I have been happy with this group since the day I joined.    When I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 months, recovering from a broken shoulder, and broken foot, I got a telephone call from one of our members. Imagine my shock and surprise when I heard her voice. Her name is Mylinda Gamez, and we became close friends since the day I joined. She lives in Corpus Christi, texas. She is one sweet, beautiful girl. She made my day!! She is really sick with her RA, and hasn't been posting much. I call her very often, as we just love each other, and have a great friendship.   It still amazes me that we became so close, and enjoy our friendship so much.   You have come to the right place. The longer you are here, the more you learn about your disease, you will find comfort and help from everyone.    I hope you feel better soon. I pray you have a nice night. Talk again soon.                                             Hugs,                                             Barbara From: betty gates <bettygates@...> Subject: [ ] BARBARA " group " < > Date: Wednesday, March 25, 2009, 3:29 PM dearest barbara, i don't know how you do it.... i know you are in pain yourself, with your knee, and the wound that you got. but you still get on here everyday, and try to encourage and help everyone. you are amazing. you really deserve all the comfort and love you can get. god bless you. thank you for being here. Guest guest
Hi a: Does that dose of Pred. work well for you? I am glad you are off your feet today. Me too. I bought a Pride lift chair when I moved here, and it is just great. It also reclines so I can get my feet up. It is so comfortable, and I am glad I bought it. When my feet and ankles are bad, I just lift it to the max position, and it actually puts you standing up effortlessly. Makes getting up so much easier. Isn't awful when you feel unsteady when you walk. Do you use a cane or walker? I use my cane whenever I need it for stability. I just can't take another bad fall. I hope you continue to stay off your feet, and take things slow and easy. What do you do to entertain yourself while resting? I love t.v. and movies, reading, and right now I am doing a Mermaid needlepoint pillow. Plus, I am on this magic machine a lot. Have a good night and feel better soon. It is always so nice to chat with you. Thanks for caring about me. I care about you too a. Wishing you many pain free days ahead. hugs, Barbara > > Hi Barbara... > > I'm on 5 mg of prednisone. Guest guest
Hi Barb...I used to live in Florida...miss it. I was there in the 70's and again in the 90's. Lived in West Palm Beach , St Pete back in the 70's....then moved to St Pete and Coral Springs in the 90's. My dad got sick so we moved back to Ohio. He said I was nuts. LOL I always thought I would get back there and move forever .. Dave and I had the plans to do that in a few years but it wasn't meant to be. Maybe one day I can move back to the Tampa St Pete area again. Hugs...take care of yourself. a
Guest guest
hi a: That is wonderful that the Enbrel works for you. Thank heavens that you could take it successfully. I didn't buy a recliner, like you, I could not manage the handle either. Plus, I could never get out of them easily. I have very long legs, making it impossible to bend my knees that far or put all that pressure on them. Like you, I have to watch where I am walking. Uneven turf is also hard on my feet and ankles. Tough when I walk on the beach. i don't do that often for that reason. We all make concessions in our daily life. Your " Chemoangles group " sounds wonderful for all, and so fulfilling for you. Glad you are in recovery and doing well. It so helps to relate to people who have what we have, and a comfort for all who join. I am off to my pool before it rains and thunders and lightening. We get a storm each day around this time. At least our lawn is green, and the flowers are all blooming. Plus, our fire danger is gone. I am happy about that! Have a great evening, and take care of yourself. We ALL have to do that!!!! Hugs, Barbara > > Hi barbara..well, so far, so good. Guest guest
Hi a: Yes, I live on the South West coast, about 25 min. to the Gulf beaches. You would love the beaches here. The water is Acqua blue just like the Caribbean, and so nice and warm. I am an ocean/beach girl too. The fire danger was so bad here for such a long time due to not getting enough rain. Fires would start just from the heat of the day. Very scarey. We are having lots of rain each day so the fire danger is gone for now. We haven't had hail here for a few years. I love to hear it on the roof and see it. It never lasts long. You have a wonderful night, and take care of your feet. Hugs, Barbara > > Thanks Barbara...we just had a downpour....and hail. Guest guest
Hi a: I can see why you went back North. I would have done the same thing for my father. Maybe one day you will move back here. I have been here 5 years last month. This weather is so much better for me. My RA was so bad on Cape Cod that I was almost in a wheelchair. Does your living in Ohio aggrevate and make your RA worse? I hope you do get to move to Florida and live your dream here. Even though the summers here are so hot, I have a.c. to handle that, the cars and stores have a.c. also. It is a short season here, then all the great weather returns. Don't forget to let me know the lab. results. I am hoping your foot infection is getting better each day. I hope you are still resting with it up, and also soaking it. Wishing you pain free days ahead. Enjoy the day as best as you can. Hugs, Barbara > > Hi Barb...I used to live in Florida...miss it. Guest guest
Hi a: How are things with you today? Your foot doing better? Did you find a good book at the library? I have over 20 paperbacks to read. I always have a lot because I read so much!!!!!! I can see why you can't leave the North. That was the hardest part of moving here. I had to leave my daughter, and we are very close. I have a great phone service so we talk every day. I also left my best friend on Cape Cod. She moved there shortly after I did to be closer to me. I moved because of the RA. Living here my RA has been so much better. I never thought I would see that day. Everytime I have gone home, I have gotten sick with my RA flaring and U.R.I.'s. I am sick most of the time there. I am going home Sept. 1-7th, and I am praying I stay well. I told my family if I get sick this time, then no more trips to the North for me. Right now we are having heavy rain, and thunder and lightening, which I hate. I was just heading to the pool, but not now. If it clears, I will go swimming after supper. I have found the warm pool, which is a salt water pool, helps me so much. I do my knee exercises in there, and I have been swimming 5-6 laps each time I go in. It just feels so wonderful. I know you would love to live here. I know you would feel so much better with your RA and everything. It is so hard to leave your daughter I know. I never thought I would leave Cape Cod. I was in heaven living there until the RA reared its ugly head. I had no choice but to move to a better climate. My dr. knew I would have a life living here in this climate. He was right. I hope you have a nice night. I hope all goes well at your dr. appt. and get the answers you need about your foot infection. Wishing you pain free days ahead. Guest guest
Hi a: So glad to hear your foot is healing, and nothing bad going on in the wound. Things are good today. Saw my PCP this a.m. and had a good check up. All the blood work was great, etc. I even lost a few pounds. I was happy about that!! I have never read that author. I love love stories, court room drama's, mysteries. I do not like Historical or scary books. What do you mean " fluff " books? Light love stories? I started my Mermaid needlepoint last week. It is going slowly, but that is fine with me. I just enjoy doing it. I also want to start folk art painting again. I love that too, but I can't sit too long. I get so stiff and sore. I would like nothing better than to sit and paint all day. Can't do that anymore. I really took it easy today when I got home. I did go in the pool, and yes, it is wonderful. What a diff. it makes having it right out my door. I moved here 5 years ago, and 10 days before hurrican Charlie hit. It was so awful and so, so sad to see what everyone lost. No a.c., elec. etc. for 9 days. Had a grill, but no gas, and didn't know where to get it. We evacuated for 10 hours, then they let us go home. We were so lucky, only lost 12 shingles on the house, and our builder sent us a roofer the next week. I hope I never go through another one. I will be 70 in Jan. I just don't know how I got here so fast!!! How is your RA doing? I hope better. Yes, I am flying and I hope I don't catch anything. I want to enjoy my time with my family. Have a good evening, and talk soon. Hugs, Barbara > > Hi a: How are things with you today? Your foot doing better? > > Hi Barbara....I just dropped off a book at the library.
