Guest guest
I stood on my left foot 7 weeks ago and heard a pop on the lateral side behind the ankle bone(I had sprained it 6 times in the few months before but never had pain behind the ankle). I iced it and rested it. I couldn't stand on my tip toes because of severe pain. I went to an orthopedic surgeon. He said that I had injured my peroneal tendon. I still can't hardly walk 200 feet(but prior to this I was able to walk a couple miles without difficulty). I haven't been able to work as I have to be able to be on my feet all day to go back to work. Yesterday it had been raining and had stopped but the ground was wet and I wanted to take a pizza box out to the trashcan. I have an aircast brace on and I decided to tiptoe to keep my brace from getting wet. I took three steps on my tip toes and couldn't do it anymore because the pain was so bad on the lateral side behind the ankle. I tried to look online to see if I could figure out what is wrong. The only thing I saw is that if there is an achilles tendon rupture it would causes an inability to stand on the tip toe. But I can stand on my tip toes except that it is very painful. I am wondering what causes severe pain to stand on the tip toes and if anyone has experienced this? I don't go back to my doctor for 1 week. Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions. I only have 12 weeks of medical leave total so I have to get this ankle better enough to go back to work in the next 5 weeks or I don't know what will happen to my job and medical benefits.
