Guest guest
Morning All, I've been taking Plaquenil since first being diagnosed with RA 10 years ago. It has controlled my RA well. My biggest complaint with Plaquenil has been flatulence! Have other people noticed this? It's really been a problem. I went on vacation last week and accidentally left all my medications at home. I went from Canada to the US so FedExing drugs wasn't an easy thing to do. I finally decided to just go the 7 days without the meds and what I really noticed without the Plaquenil was that I wasn't gaseous all day. Quite a treat. So I've returned from holidays and still haven't started taking the Plaquenil again. I don't notice any changes at all -- except that I'm not tooting all day long!. The RA hasn't flared up. I feel just fine. My doctor doesn't work in the summer so I haven't talked with her about it. Not sure her locum would be much help since she doesn't really know my history. Anyway, any comments on this? It seems like I heard/read over the years that if you stop taking Plaquenil, it never really works as well when you start taking it again. I would hate that to happen because I'd hate to move up the ladder with regards to medications -- like really don't want to take Methotrexate. Anybody else have the gaseous problem with Plaquenil? I used to go to an RA support group and remember it being mentioned there so I don't think I'm the only one. Thanks for any feedback! Guest guest
I dont' have the gas problem on it but I do know that Plaquenil takes months to build up in your system and work really well so my guess would be that it would take several months before you would notice a difference in your RA. I personally would get back to taking it but of course everyone has to decide for themselves and work with their doctor. Best of luck to you. I wonder if you could call the pharmacist and see what you could safely take that would get rid of the gas problem. > > Morning All, > > I've been taking Plaquenil since first being diagnosed with RA 10 years ago. Guest guest
, For me Plaquenil (for lupus) has been my savior. It took about 3 months for me to get full benefit, but I am not sorry I tried it. My Rheumy has mentioned that the Plaquenil has reduced my arthritis symptoms too. Dottie -- [ ] Plaquenil Hi all, I went to my RA last week (still no diagnosis)and she witnessed some of the swelling I have been complaining about and pain and put me on a trial of low dose Prednisone for 6 days. Besides not getting any sleep for 6 days the pain did get alot better, however, now off the prednisone, my hands are starting to hurt again but everything else seems o.k. She called me today and she wants to put me on Plaquenil. I am a little nervous about it. I guess if I had a diagnosis I would know what we were fighting but when nothing comes up in the bloodwork but being so symptomatic with pain, hair loss, swelling, tenosynovitis you obviously have some inflammation problem. How did you find Plaquenil?
