Ooh I like that one. I'm going to print, post and paste it.

Thanks,

I've been fairly off-track in my intuitive eating of late (for various reasons), taking advantage of the "oh, hey, you can eat anything you like" part, without the "pay attention and listen to your body" part.So after recognising I'm doing a lot of emotional eating, which has led to weight gain, which has led to diety/bad-body thoughts, which has led to more emotional eating ... I opened my copy of McKenna's book again the other day, searching for a little IE re-motivation. I was immediately struck by a concept which I realised I haven't been applying at all over recent times:"Am I really hungry, or do I just want to change the way I feel?"I just try to ask myself that question every time I get the urge to eat. It's been *quite* an eye-opener.Sometimes you just have to go back to basics.Sig

I SO know what you mean Sigi! I ate more while I had visitors this

summer and caught myself at times thinking 'diet mentality thoughts'!

After the initial 'I've failed!' thought, I take a breath, remind

myself that IE is THE way I choose to 'go' and then just turn my focus

back onto practicing IE once again. The thought of 'getting back on

the horse' almost stops me, but then I think - and what will that do

really? So 'up' I go (or onward as applies to the IE journey).

Great to read a post from you too :)

Wow...I like that. Should be really helpful since I've been struggling lately too. I've been really anxious because my sister's wedding is coming up. This should really help distinguish when I'm hungry and when I'm eating emotionally. Thanks for sharing!!

Going back

to basics is going back to the foundations, and every decision (and building!)

needs a strong foundation!

Well done

for sharing this wonderful PMK quote with us all!

Glad to help, babe! I sometimes think I should tattoo it somewhere

prominent on my arm or something, so I could remind myself on a regular

basis. Or I'm thinking maybe I could string together some little

silver alphabet beads spelling out AIRHODIJWTCTWIF around my wrist.

Would puzzle the hell out of anyone who noticed it! :-D

Sigi,

I thought about taking a hat, adding a little stick with a string

dangling from it with a note that dances before my eyes saying ARE YOU

REALLY HUNGRY? might work, well for a little while anyways ;-)
