Hi ! I'm new here, too.I find that either watching TV or looking at a magazine or catalog, whileI'm eating, to be very relaxing and calming. I don't like to just sit at the table and only eat! ha! it's boring. And besides that, my own thoughts canbe a distraction! so for me, I enjoy watching TV or flipping through a magazine/catalog while I eat.

,

there have been many discussion in this area. I think you will find

the concensus to be that you have to find what works for you. Some

really like eating with no distractions. Others, myself included,

find it extruciatingly lonely and painful. I work on staying mindful

while eating even if I am watching TV or reading or on the computer.

I'm not always mindful, but getting better and better. It is

possible, I believe to eat while doing somehting else and remain

mindful and conscious of our fullness/satisfaction levels. Others

have commented on how most natural IE eaters don't just sit and eat

and do nothing.

Hope this helps,

Alana
