Hi,

I have been doing not too bad with ie - I started a week ago, and I did

eat former forbidden food in moderation - just amazing (I overdid pizza

a litte tonight but I chose to do so. No guilt. Amazing.) However, in

the morning, if I ate breakfast with sugar, like for example granola

cereals or buckwheat pancakes with a bit of molasse, I become jittery

(I mean that I shake, my hands shake a lot - sorry, I am french, I hope

this is the right word...) 2 hours later. Anybody experience this, is

this a blood sugar issue? I find it strange because I always eat a

little protein at breakfast, eggs or milk.

Nathalie,

No guilt does feel amazing! I would say the same thing...sometimes I

do get a bit jittery and my hands shake during the day and I have

thought it might be the result of some of the sweets I eat. Paying

attention to those types of body signals is definitely important. If

you're noticing that result after eating sugary foods than you may

want to have a blood sugar test to see if you're hypoglycemic or how

your body is responding to sugar. I'm assuming that you've

experimented with eating other foods in the morning and not felt

jittery or shaky two hours later?

There are also choices for you to make in that type of situation, if

it is a food sensitivity. I know that I'd prefer to feel " stable "

after meals, yet after eating some foods I have felt jittery, sick,

or just uncomfortable in some way. If I really like the food, I have

to determine if I'm willing to deal with how my body responds to the

food, can I balance the food with something else to get a better

outcome, or is there a food I can substitute for it that I enjoy in

the same way and doesn't leave me feeling weird. I'd definitely like

to hear more about what you discover for yourself around this issue.

I have

this same experience so I choose not to eat the sugary things. I personally

feel I can recognize my own body’s hunger signals when I am not jittery

and shaky.

I consider myself alergic to sugar and have not eaten (what I

consider sugar)for over 22 years. I can eat it if I want too but I

can get all of my favorites without sugar, so " for me " why bother

with sugar.

I find that sugar in the morning does make me hungrier and, in my

pre-IE days, really binge all day.

I know I need protein with my breakfast and it makes a world of

difference in how I feel until lunchtime.
