Guest guest
I have been told never to take MTX with antibiotics because if I am taking antibiotics, I have an infection. MTX is an immunesupressant. You don't want your immune system supressed when you are sick with an infection. I am home less than a week from being hospitalized with a periorbital and facial cellulitis which was vancomycin resistant. Then on top of that I got a mild case of C. difficile again. I am now off antibiotics, will take s. boulardii when it arrives, and going to see my rheumatologist today. I am off my MTX for now but never want to be on it again. It has done great things for my arthritis and fatigue but I get sick with other things when I am on it. I am going to ask my doctor to put me back on Medrol since I didn't get strange infections with that. I have a family with children under 18 whom I not only normally take care of but I also homeschool my younger two. My dh is active duty AF, travels frequently, and I can't be getting hospitalized. Hopefully he understands or else I will have to try to find a more understanding rheumy. I think my risks on low dose Medrol are better than my risks on MTX. in Northern VA
Guest guest
, You really have a full plate. Sorry to hear you were in hospital. Maybe you are gettting some rest while at home now or at least sleeping through the night. I hated being woke up at night in the hosp to check temp, breathing treatment, etc. even tho it was necessary, I hadn't heard about saccharomyces, but I have taken the probiotic formula Acidophilus. Thanks for sharing and let us know how you progress.
