Guest guest
Goodmorning, It is a cool but beutiful Monday morning here in my part of NY. I received a cuple of emails concerning my post yesterday on syrnix. From what I was told the Neurosurgen had to drain the syrnix during both surgeries. He placed the shunt in the syrinx after the deflation. I have a constant numbness in the left arm and it has been there since a week after my second surgery. The right arm has numbness off and on. It gets better after 6 days of being on steroids. Once the steroids are out of my system the numbness returns. The neurosurgen and his staff have repeatedly told me that it can take from 12 to 18 months after surgery for the swelling to go down. I had two surgeries in 3 months for the ACM/SM and it was very difficult. They have told me that I am unpredictable and they are keeping a close eye on me. I was told by another doctor that at this point there is nothing a neurologist can do for me. My best course is to stay with the neurosurgeon. I see the surgeon every 4 to 6 weeks. I am wondering what the neurologist have been doing for any of you? Just one more thing to touch base on> someone asked if I could be compressed in the cervical area again. I have been reassured by the two neurosurgeons in the office and the neuroradiologist that the chiari decompression area still looks good. They feel the muscle spasms could be causing the headache and vomiting. So far I have not noticed a change on the Neurotin and Zanaflex. But again we have to be very careful with dosing. I can't tolerate alot of medication. Sorry this is long but thanks to those who took the time to read this. Have a good day.
