Guest guest
Hi Clora: For the life of me I can not understand your Rheumy not giving you pain meds. We do not need to suffer needlessly. Every dr. knows that pain is wearing on us, and people can not function properly with pain. Have you spoken to your PCP about your Rheumy's failure to help you get out of pain? I know it is hard for you to speak up, but you can't live or have any kind of life when you are hurting so badly. You have been through so much in the time I have known you. Your body is so sensitive to to so many meds. causing you to have so many allergies. It must be scarey for you to even try anything new. Our Rheumy's owe it to us to try and help us to live a good life as best we can. Not giving you the pain meds. you need to feel comfortable, is just plain cruel. She evidently has no compassion for what her patients are going through, and could care less about them or the pain they are trying to deal with. Pain makes me crazy. RA is a very ugly beast of a disease. If she doesn't know this, then she should not be a Rheumy. It is needless for you to suffer so much. I feel terrible about all your pain and suffering. All the surgeries I have had the last 6 years, the one thing that my doctors stressed was, " take your pain meds. every 4 hours, and stay ahead of the pain once you get it under control " . Even the P.T. specialist told me, " we will do your therapy about 1/2 hour after you take your pain meds. " They do this because you could not move your body otherwise. With this last knee replacement, for some reason, they could not get me out of pain, no matter what they gave me. I was ready to hang myself. Even the morphine drip did not work. They literally tried every narcotic, and nothing dented that pain. This had never happened to me before. I was literally in orbit with this pain. Finally on day 6, the Dr. put in another pump and tried Delaoudid (spelling), and added 8 muscle relaxers a day. That finally did the trick. By this time I was in so much agony, I could not do any P.T. or move my entire leg because it filled with fluid from my toes to my groin. I thought my leg froze, and would need more surgery. Those 6 days of pain really set me back. My leg had 35 lbs. of fluid in it. He bound my leg from the toes to the groin with ace bandages. I had these on 24 hrs. a day. Our bodies weaken when in pain Clora. I so want you to feel better. I hope you call your Rheumy and really stress how much pain you are in. If she still refuses to help you, then I would get another Rheumy recommendation from your PCP. No one should suffer needlessly. I pray you will be pain free soon. I so care about you, worry about what you are dealing with each day. God Bless you, and take care of yourself. Hugs, Barbara
