Guest guest
I've used sea salt for years. I guess it's similar to organic sodium? Guest guest
Hi, It would get too boring eating that way all the time. Some of us on the ER4YTtypeO list are doing a 3 week challenge on the beneficials. It's open for all who would like to join in. There have been some comments about from people who have gone only or mainly Beneficials about how much better they feel and how much more energy they have, so we thought it would be a good idea to try it together and be able to encourage each other, along with making suggestions. Guest guest
Hi Lydia, Yes I live in Colorado. In Denver. Have lived here all my life. I love the seasons and how they change so drastically within a few minutes time. I think it is great that you are not drinking, hard to get away from it so you should be very proud of your accomplishments. But to work in that type of environment had to have been torture you are very strong. I have leg cramps really bad I can't stretch when in bed. For me makes me fly out of bed in an instant. I hear leg cramps is a sign of low Potassium. I have low Potassium and take K-Dur every day after my transplant my Potassium level bottomed out and I kept fainting I fell twice in the hospital. Has your doctor said anything about it to you? You might want to ask. gayle trans/6-99 ^oo^ galye@...
Guest guest
I had those cramps too. My family doctor put me on K-Dur (potassium supplement) and those bad cramps went away. Also, be sure to only take potassium if your doctor tells you to, if they are not supervised by your doctor, they could be very dangerous. -Clyde
Guest guest
Ive been told that I lack potassium, but I have a doctor that Im still not too happy with. After my next visit in October, if he fails to still answer my questions, I will definitely switch doctors. I also want to get another biopsy, since the last one I had was 6 years ago and was diagnosed with cirrhosis. He only prescribed lactulose. Since I quit work, my legs cramps are gone, lol, I wonder why. And working in a bar all my life and not drinking was easy, I made up my mind to not drink and that was the end of that. Take care. Guest guest
Lydia, You definitely need to confront your doctor and pursue the Potassium issue. It can be very harmful to your body be it high or low. And when you have jobs where you are on your legs for hours on cement also causes leg cramps. I do wish I could have some of your willpower to not drink, I maybe could be skinny. gayle trans/6-99 ^oo^ galye@...
Guest guest
When I exercise too long and don't drink enough water, or take a lasix to get rid of the water in my system, I get massive leg cramps. Actually, severe muscle cramps all over my body. My arms twist forward at the shoulder, my toes crinkle into differnt positions. But once I drink plenty of water, I am much better. And that takes care of the cramps for a while. debby [ ] Re: Leg Cramps Ive been told that I lack potassium, but I have a doctor that Im stillnot too happy with. Guest guest
Could someone tell me please, what measurement of the loose powder would be equivalent to 3000 mg of MSM? Thanks, Deanna leg cramps KJ, I get leg cramps if I don't take 3000 mg. of MSM. I don't have to take it every day, maybe just about every 4th day. I can feel it coming on if I don't remember to take it, but then after I take the MSM that feeling of beginning cramps goes away. It always works for me. I told an 83 year old friend about this and she was taking MSM, but only 2000 mg. When she took the extra 1000, it made the difference for her, too. Thought this might help you. Guest guest
Cathie, I have a lot of leg and foot cramps, I get them so bad the cramps wake me from a sound sleep. I can't remember why. Quinine water is supposed to be good to help the pain settle down. Check on your potassium can be from that. My potassium is way low all the time so the docs tripled my dose I went from 20 to 80 a day. gayle/trans.6-99 galye@... @` \I/

Guest guest
Cathie, You might want to try taking a couple of Tums during the day. Sometimes the calcium is what is needed. However as Debby said it could also be your potassium level. The best option is to have your doctor do an electrolyte panel and see if anything is out of whack. annMN [ ] Leg Cramps Hi all. Guest guest
Cathie, The first thing you need to do about your leg cramps is to have your potassium level checked. That causes terrible cramps if you should have a low level. I know we all have different experiences with different things, but this turned out to be my problem. Yours could be something else, but this is worth a try. If my level is below a 3 I think I will die with cramps. It is worth a try. Guest guest
Hi , I'm sorry you are getting leg cramps, no fun. I find I get them when I don't drink enough water. I take potassium, and calcium supplements which make them go away for me. I was eating banannas but that didn't always work. You might ask your doctor whether you need potassium and calcium supplements. I think we do have problems getting any of our nutrients properly, and I think calcium and potassium are two that I find especially hard to absorb just through my diet. I don't tolerate dairy products well either, so I need the supplement. I hope you feel better. Ruth > > > Hi all. Guest guest
you need more potassium, eat banana's leg cramps Hi everyone I have a short problem I hope maybe someone might have the answer. It seems the more weight I lose the worse leg cramps I receive. I work out almost daily but the cramps are sometimes late afternoon and I do drink plenty of water. I also take mag/potassium supplements. That seemed to help but now they are back and so painful I cant move sometimes. When I was heavy I never had them.. I get so stiff even though I stretch everyday. I hope you can help me.
Guest guest
I have heard leg cramps are associated with low potassium? Have you looked into that? Are we allowed to take potassium tablets? Guest guest
Nocturnal leg and feet cramps can be caused by standing for prolonged periods on concrete, staying on your feet for longer periods of time than usual. Also, they may be caused by deficiencies in potassium, magnesium, sodium or calcium. Tums, gatorade will help w/ the deficiencies. I'd say get a lab test for electrolytes if you haven't already. At a year out are you doing the gatorade and supplements, vitamins " religiously " ? As always, there are other more serious possibilities that your doctor would know about, but less common. Guest guest
, I am a massage therapist and have lots of clients with nocturnal and diurnal leg cramps. First of all, try increasing your water. If that doesn't work, increase your potassium via either food (bananas, baked potatoes, raisins), Gatorade, or supplements. Hope this helps. Guest guest
These cramps are caused by having too little potassium, calcium and/or magnesium. Prior to the surgery, I used to get cramps in both my legs and my waist muscles. A doctor orginally told me that this was caused by a potassium deficiency, but I found out it can be any or all of them. I use muscle cramps as my indicator that I am not getting enough of these minerals. , Ph.D. 9836 Natick Road Burke, VA 22015
