I'm wondering if I'm losing too much magnesium when I sweat in my far-infrared sauna. I am taking the Now brand magnesium citrate 200mg 2/day for a total of 400 mg. For calcium I am using a little less than 1/2 tsp of eggshell calcium 2/day. Do I need to adjust the magnesium? > +++Hi Leesa. Yes, please increase your magnesium to 600 IU or more per day. You can't rush healing with the sauna, so it isn't helpful nor necessary. All the best, Bee
Guest guest
Thanks Bee. I'll increase the magnesium to 600/day. You must get weary of telling us all that we can't rush the process. I understand that message, just really tired of my skin looking so awful. I am seeing some improvement since starting the sauna, but maybe I need to go easier with it. Both of my kids graduate--one in 2.5 weeks from college, the other in 7 weeks from high school. I was hoping to look more presentable. Thank you for all of your support! Guest guest
Leg cramps is perhaps the most common complaint on statins.Alternate email: marooned@...Bobby- Your Caribbean Travel Plannerwww.pinkystravel.com International Destinations, Resorts, Vacation PackagesPhilippine Destination SpecialistFrom: Giddings <thedgg@...>Subject: Leg CrampsLipitor Date: Tuesday, August 31, 2010, 4:14 AM I noticed recently that when I walk uphill, I no longer have leg cramps. Then I remembered I had quit statins and started beta sitosterol sometime ago. If I were a journalist, I might say this proves statins cause leg cramps. If I were a scientist, I might say nothing was proved: too many variables and too little control for a proper experiment. Since I am neither, I shall continue to wonder. NPR has done a wonderful job of documenting the changes at the FDA since the laws changes and Bigpharm was permited to pay for additional persoooel to be elployed to help expeditite the applications to get Wonderful Life Saving Medications to the people who need them. Only one little problem - now the people at the FDA think they work fot the BigPharm companies and their job is to get the new medications approved. Anyone remember things like Vioxx and PhenPhen? I was web-surfing a popular movie site, when I see that Reese Witherspoon is attached to a movie called Pharm Girl. She is to star and produce this. It says that her character gets a "job at a pharmaceutical powerhouse and begins to see the underbelly of the industry as she rises through the company's ranks."It says it is an aspirational comedy centering on one woman's odyssey through the drug industry. In the comments section of another story in EW.com, one commenter says she worked in Pharma for 16 years and has witnessed unethical behavior and is getting out of the business because she has a conscience. She says that in the beginning it was about working with the docs and giving them proper info, now it is flooded with cheerleader types to promote off label, and spewing company Mantra. She says she would hope the film portrays Pharma as how it has evolved into a marketing machine all for profit. She says to visit Cafepharma.com to read about what the industry has become.Very interesting. I wish people other than the victims here and others like victims of fluorquinolones which also can cause devastating ADR's would see and understand that the drug companies main focus is profits and if they come at the physical expense of unsuspecting patients, oh well. If it would happen to drug company executives or employee members or their families, maybe that is the only way for them to GET IT!!!!Connie
Guest guest
Hi Lois, When you get this post, click " messages in this thread " and read them. Guest guest
That question is one of those that disappeared into cyber space about a week ago. I asked again and it was answered. Guest guest
I am a member ,but have been in the background....never posting. I was diagnosed 11 years ago. I too get horrible leg cramps...or rather I used to! They have subsided drastically since I've been doing water aerobics for the past 5 months. When I would get one...and they were debilitating I mean I would cry with the pain and it would last for 30 minutes or more!,I would chug 2 bottles of water and within 10 to 15 minutes they would subside. My sister who suffers from Liver Failure suggested that I was not hydrated enough. My Rheumy said that the water certainly couldn't hurt! I still occcasionally tend to get them if I stay in a sitting position too long...like for 45 minutes in a straight back chair. So for me, The excercise and lots of water have helped. I also take Plaquenil twice a day, along with my other RA meds and sometimes if I feel a cramp starting,I'll take an exstra one...figuring the extra quinine couldn't hurt! Anyway, that's my experience. I just had a right knee total replacement 2 1/2 weeks ago....and am having the left one done Wed,Feb 23! At least part of me will feel better. The only bad things is I haven't been able to have my Remicade infusion since Dec and will not get it again until I am completely healed from this next surgery. I can't wait !! Guest guest
Hi Jill.  Those leg cramps are brutal. I had a lot of issues with them several years ago. I used to drink Tonic Water just for the Quinine and it did help.  Since I moved to Florida, 7 years ago, I had to hydrate myself much more then living up North. I drink a lot of water each day, and have not had any leg cramps all this time. I also try to eat a banana a day also. I do take 2 RX Potassium 2X each day.  So glad you are having your other knee replaced. You will feel so much better and the quality of your life will be much improved. I have had both of mine replaced, plus my right hip. I feel good having all that pain gone etc.  I wish you good luck with your pending replacement.  Hugs,  Barbara From: Jill <jillkstewart@...> Subject: [ ] leg cramps Date: Friday, February 18, 2011, 10:55 AM  I am a member ,but have been in the background....never posting.
