Guest guest
Do you all think that OA is compatible with IE? I know of at least one person in OA whose food plan was intuitive eating. Still, the definition of abstinence in OA is refraining from compulsive overeating and avoiding personal binge foods. It is my understanding that no food is to be avoided on the IE plan. I would welcome thoughts and opinions as I decide whether to remain in OA. (In the past, I've always gained weight when I have left.) Guest guest
Hi , I am currently in OA and practicing IE. I work with an OA sponsor who understands that I don't have a food plan, and that I can (and do) eat all foods. We work the steps together, which I find helps keep me connected to my intuition and "soul". I find it hard at times to listen to the restrictive-ness (diet talk) of food plans and peoples' abstintence. But, that said, I do get support by being with others who are attempting to recover from their eating issues. I also sponsor 2 OA's - they both know about by IE philosphy. I have only been practicing IE for about a month. I sometimes find it hard to encourage them to stay on their food plan, but I try to remember that I needed a food plan in the beginning - it did help me. I guess in some ways OA is compatible, but not in all ways. Hope this helps! Guest guest
I do think that there are some OA principles that can fit nicely within IE. I suppose that could be different for everyone. Maybe it's the support. Maybe it's being held accountable. Maybe it's the " giving it to a higher power " . The " food plans " would not be a part of IE. What is it, do you think, that has helped you so much with OA? Alana > > Do you all think that OA is compatible with IE?
