Hi Steve,

I think my wife is dealing with this better than me or she is putting on a good show and face.

I went in to Lowe,s yesterday and all of the employees greeted me and could not wait to shake my hand. I had a great bunch of Specialists and they made me look good so I was in great status also with all of management. I had 4 store Mgrs. In the 4+ yrs and all of them were great. The present one invites me to go to lunch occasionally and I have offered and helped my replacement Sales Mgr. Whom I trained prior to getting IPF. I started part time in Tool World and was pursued to get into Mgmt. Due to my experience, knowledge and training. I zipped through the 8 week training and was immediately offered the job as Sales Mgr. In the store in , Ga. So I never worked in any other store.

Compared to my work with G.E. Lowe,s had NO hazardous material. I have worked in asbestos, Nuclear Power Plants, all types of welding, all types of chemicals, so many I can not remember and could not type all in a 8 hour span. The dust, battery acid, paint thinners, and few other items in Lawn and Garden were nothing!!

How long was yout LTD and was it paid by you or HD. I elected and had to pay $39/MO. The ironic thing is that I had major back surgery in Jan. 2006 and they kept refusing me LTD until they had open enrollment in Nov. 2007. I signed up and my effective date of insurance was Jan. 1 2008. I went to the Dr. Jan. 2 2008 and now they are doing all kinds of investigating trying to find some way to keep from paying saying it looks suspicious. So far they have contacted every Dr. , pharmacy, Medical Center, nurse, and anyone knowing me to have someone say I had a pre-existing condition and that is why I signed up for LTD. They even contacted a Gastrologist that did a colonoscopy last year. They can NOT find anything but are delaying payment to keep trying. This is Liberty Mutual insurance that carries Lowe,s insurance. My short term ran out and I applied for SSDI on Feb. 2nd. I hope my SSDI comes through as soon as yours did.

This disease sucks and I get very tired for no reason which makes me angry as there is so much I need to do and it falls on Joanie and she is going to have to have knee surgery. She has a MRI on Friday to see how bad. She has had to wait on swelling to go down before the MRI.

Hi Joe:

My SSDI took only 57 days from the date I applied to the date I

received my first check and they back dated mine to the date I quit

working (which was almost 2 years before I applied). To say I was

shocked is an understatement. Of course, I applied in West Virginia

and there's something to be said about that. Those kind folks were a

pleasure to deal with. I was so scared when I applied. I felt like

I was asking for a hand-out; I might as well have been standing in

the soup line. I hadn't even had my lung biopsy when I applied -

which confirmed everything, but was speculative until those results

were in. I will pray your application is fast tracked as well. I

was told that if you are applying for a disability that will result

in death, it is pushed ahead of others. I hope that is true. It

should be that way!

As for the tiredness, I know what you mean! I always plan out my

days ahead of time, but I usually never accomplish all of the tasks I

give myself. Why? Because I run out of energy! But, it's o.k. I

nap and then try to go about my business again before bedtime! It's

funny some days I feel so good and others I can hardly drag my butt

out of bed.

God Bless,

Tina

Hi Tina,

Thanks for the response. I have heard of some horror stories dealing with the Gov. I have also heard of several stories of how easy it is for some. I personally know Of some of my friends who had to appeal several times and had to get a lawyer to help. None of these were life threatening diseases though. Maybe they are getting smart and realize people with terminal diseases On prednisone could Go Postal and not care!!!

Tina...Joe....SSDI for PF

Because there are measurables through PFT's, respiratory diseases can

often go through quicker than other types of disabilities. For instance,

a back injury has no way to measure the level of injury or pain. Mental

Illness has no measurable. Many illnesses don't and become very

subjective. But if your PFT's fall below their charts, then generally

approval for PF isn't as difficult as some others.
