Guest guest
Moon Boot is capitalized, per HPI's Ortho Words & Phrases. The second should be ORIF (open reduction and internal fixation). Help with two terms Patient is being seen for ankle pain and swelling. He is still wearing his **Moon Boot splint**. IMPRESSION: Status post **RIF** to the left ankle. Does anyone know if Moon Boot is capitalized and if RIF is correct what does it stand for? Thanks, Tracey
Guest guest
I found rigid internal fixation for RIF in Medical Abbrevations by Neil . Just trying to learn something, why wouldn't it be this? Thanks, Laurilee Subject: Re: Help with two terms > Moon Boot is capitalized, per HPI's Ortho Words & Phrases. Guest guest
Tracey, Moon Boot would be capitalized per Stedman's Ortho. Not sure if the RIF refers to ORIF (open reduction and internal fixation) or CRIF (closed reduction and internal fixation). Sorry I can't help more. Guest guest
Laurilee, Time for me to learn something new too. I had never heard that term before and it's not in my abbreviations book, but it is listed under fixation in Stedman's Ortho books. So I believe rigid internal fixation may be what Tracey is looking for. Margaret >>> " Laurilee Eades " 01/20/02 09:57PM >>> I found rigid internal fixation for RIF in Medical Abbrevations by Neil . Guest guest
Thanks for getting back to me. I almost didn't write anything to begin with on it because I figured I would probably be wrong! Sitting here with a smile on my face. : ) Laurilee Help with two terms > > > > > > Patient is being seen for ankle pain and swelling.
