Almost immediately, the pain hit the shoulder and later around the liver area. I was immediately put on painkillers, thru drip. I was sore and in pain for several days. They did not give me sedation, and just number the spot. After it was all over, I asked the doctor if indeed the needle was 8 inches long….he said, “Yes, but we don’t use the entire needle.” Well…make me feel special. I felt that thing go all the way in and stop! Thought I had died on the spot! I had pain for several days later, but no lasting effects. I hope you get through this quickly. Guest guest Posted September 26, 2004 Report Share Posted September 26, 2004 They admitted me. I was admitted on Thursday and released today. My eyes swelled completely shut. My lips were swollen. It was horrible! They said it was due to the imuran and prednisone. Immune system just couldn't handle the infection. Swelling has subsided and the cyst is barely draining, but at least it is getting better. Guest guest Posted November 1, 2004 Report Share Posted November 1, 2004 Cora, I haven't been on lately...feeling ok just busy with kids. I too take 150mg of Imuran but I take it all at once. I started out with 50mg and pred. weened of the pred and my levels went up so the doc up me to 100mg of imuran with pred. Weened of again after a couple of months levels up again. Then to 150mg of Imuran the real stuff now not the generic, (I have to call the hospital when my script is up as they don't carry it because no one else around here takes it just the generic form) and Pred. I have weened off the pred again and it has been 2 months with good levels both at 32. I am obese and have a fatty liver but it doesn't matter what I do when I try to diet and exercise moderately all my joints and muscles start hurting and then I am back at the doctors. She says it doesn't have anything to do with the AIH and dieting but I am not sure. It seems when I cut the fat out of my diet all the pain comes back. I need to loose weight I gained 60 pounds since my dx a little over 2 years ago. Do you know of any good diets to try? Right now my only health problem is AIH and my weight even though no doctor has ever told me to lose weight I know I have to just because I don't feel good carrying it all around and I can't find clothes to fit me anymore and I refuse to wear a tent.lol. Anyhow I just wanted to say I too am on 150mg and my weight was never a factor on me being on that dosage as far as I know.
