Guest guest
Dear Marta, RE: Burning Pain I have been skimming the digest and will go back when time permits. You mentioned the Indian burning feeling you are having. I have heard much about this and unfortunately, know from 1st hand/foot experience. For the past 10 years I have had this pain continually without remission. It started in my toes and has slowly worked it's way up my leg. I have also had it intermittently in other areas). My doctors have ignored it until now saying it's not unusual for someone in your condition to have this. I thought there was nothing one could do for the pain, so I have lived with it for years...... WRONG ... I just found out there are medicines such as Pamelor, Dilantin, etc. that can be taken to reduce the pain. I have found a little momentary relief rubbing Zostrix/capsasin cream on the areas. I have also rubbed hand cream on my feet which also helps if you are allergic to the dry capsasin. Last week I had SER (spinal nerve tests) which show nerve damage this may be the reason for some of my pain but I can't say it's the cause of burning because I have other types of pain and numbness going on at the same time. I have more tests scheduled and will let you know what happens. I'm also starting acupuncture and Pamelor soon and will let you know if it helps. Hugs, Liz
Guest guest
I have only been dx'ed with Osterarthritis not, RA. I do believe I have RA though. The OA is in both my hips. There is not a day that goes by that I do not walk with pain. Now I am starting to wake up in the middle of the night with pain in my knees and left shoulder. Besides the pain I feel this burning like sensation like a " carpet burn in the knees " . Does RA feel like that? It hurts very bad. I stay fatigued and find myself napping a lot. I guess because of waking up during the nights. Does anyone else on the list have Osterarthritis? If so would you share with me the meds your on and how you handle the pain when you walk? I'm a newbie to List so I hope I am making sense. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.
Guest guest
, I am on this list because mu husband has RA and rheumatoid lung. I have OA and I couldn't take anti-inflammatory drugs because they made my stomach bleed. So my rheumy asked if I wanted to try Plaquenil. It took away all my pain. It is a wonderful drug. I have been pain free for a few years now. Good luck to you. Lynn in Louisiana > > I have only been dx'ed with Osterarthritis not, RA. I do believe I have RA though. The OA is in both my hips. Guest guest
Has anyone ever mentioned Arachnoiditis to you. When you get to the point where you are having to have more than 2 or 3 surgeries you must begin to suspect that Arachnoiditis may be the answer. Scar tissue wrapped around the nerves of the spine slowly cutting them off and with them there is plenty of pain and more surgery can make it worse. I just wonder if anyone has ever mentioned it. Janice burning pain I have a friend who has very severe spine problems in her lower back and more recently in her neck. She had to have neck surgery and is only gradually recovering from it and regaining use of her arms etc... But soon after surgery, she began having pain in her buttocks that was a burning pain -- not related to a skin condition and the doctor thinks it neurological. Now she is having more and more burning pain in other parts of her body and also gets hot and flushed at times. She is already on very high neurontin that she began for burning in her feet years ago. She wonders if there might be something the doctors are missing that can be corrected. She asked me to research it for her. I say B12 deficiency mentioned somewhere. But I'm looking for other ideas to try to help her. What treatments, tests, diagnoses might be considered? Her pain doctor seems to have given up on it just saying it is from the spine and nothing else can be done. Another doctor suggested botox injections. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. She is barely getting by using frequent ice packs, but is still in agony a lot of the time, since the rehab place is overloaded. The nurses often aren't as helpful as they might be or come to her assistance as often as she needs them. Joyce
