Guest guest
I was on neurtin a few months ago and I was on it for a month. I wasn't able to take it because it made me so dizzy in the morning that I could barely stand. My rhem. dr. told me that alot of people have a hard time in taking it. Since then he has put me on the lyrica which seems to be helping. I take 5- 75mgs. a day. He told me the most would be 6 a day. He also told me that you are going to still have bad days, but that they should be farther apart and don't last as long and not to think that the med. isn't working. I also am having trouble with my short term memory which is shot. Sometimes if I am not really paying attention while taking my meds. I begin to forget if I had taken a particular one and then I wind up not taking it because I don't want to overdue it. I am also taking talasan which alot of dr's are not familar with, but it is for pain and it seems like only rhem. dr's prescribe it. I haven't noticed anything different in regards to smell or taste since being on the lyrica. I know that lyrica & neurontin are cousins, but they are alittle different in regards to ingredients. Guest guest
Dear Sheila, Hello. Yes, the lyrica seems to be helping alot more than what the neurontin could do, but it did help with another problem i was being treated for, but all the while I took it I continued to have pain and before the lyrica, I was treating with otc arthritis pills, only b/c after the last thing I was prescribed (celebrex) was a cause for real concern (strokes, heart attacks) before that it was naproxen for a long while, but then when I had to go to er last summer, the doctors took me off naproxen. PLus when I read up on that I think it was contributing to leg swelling, hence, the sodium that was in it. I sure didnt need that. I've already got faulty kidneys. Lyrica is helping, but I'm having headaches, but here lately I'm having some cardiac issues, as I had to wear a heart monitor last week, so it is unclear to me what is giving me the headaches. I am glad you got off the neurontin, I do believe it wouldn't have helped your memory at all. I know I started to notice worsening memory problems on it, it was wreaking havoc on me at work and everywhere else. I'd be driving around and couldnt remember which direction I needed to go. That sucks. Thanks for writing. C macawfeatherss@... wrote: I was on neurtin a few months ago and I was on it for a month. Guest guest
I was on Celebrex and I have been on Vioxx that one made my foot swell so bad and I didn't know why my dr had me see a specialist and once I told what I was on Vioxx he told me the Vioxx was causing it and was taken off of it. then when the scare with those came up I was pretty scared and glad they had taken me off of them. claudette hudson wrote: Dear Sheila, Hello. Guest guest
Hi C, Thanks for writing back to me. I knew of a woman that was on neurton and she said that it made her do funny things especially when driving so her dr. took her off of it. My daughter who is 34 is taking neurton and she has been for a few months and she thinks that it isn't working for her any more. The only real problem that I have had on the lyrica is weight gain. I don't know what is worse taking the drug and the side affects or not taking it, but before I was put on it the only thing I wanted to do was sit on the coach and watch tv and now I find that I am alot more active. I am hoping to loose some of this weight because I have been trying to watch what I eat. I also take zanaflex (muscle relaxer) before bed time and the combination has helped me sleep alot better. I don't like to celebrate birthdays any more because to me it just means another yr. of less I can do and also another thing that I have to add to my list of things that are already wrong. I just hope that I never get to the point where I am a burden on some one else, but we can never predict the future or what is instore for us. I know my stress level is very low and sometimes I fell so stressed out that I fell that I should seeek counsling just to have some one to talk to that will listen.
