Guest guest
DebbieI'm so sorry that I haven't kept up in here and now just learning this piece of information. This is a bit surprising; but, if I were you, I wouldn't let your brain run you ragged just yet.My Gastro in Vancouver also work from the University of BC as well. There were times that my tests (ie - CT Scans) would be done at UBC or Vancouver General. The surgeon that I was sent to see, actually worked in the office right next door to the Hep Clinic. Also, this was the go to guy for liver transplants. Let's hope that your Dr. is just sending you to one of the absolute top specialists. Were you already seeing a Gastro or a Heptologist??You know that you can reach me through MSN anytime !! Even if I'm not actually sitting in front of my puter, I'll be back in front of it within a couple of hours. You know that I and the group are right here for you!! Actually, I should be getting my land line sometime early this coming week. It's one of those that I can call anywhere and so, as soon as I have it set up, I'll give you the number.Luv Gloria I got a call from my gastros nurse yesterday telling me that my dr is refering me to the University of Washington for a hepatology consult and she mentioned a transplant consult. I got a call today from the univ. telling me they had received the fax from my gastro and someone will be contacting me within the next 2 wks to set up an appointment. I will keep you informed when I know more. My stress level has now gone thru the roof. I'm very depressed at the moment. Still in shock right now. I'm taking things one day at a time but it's hard to maintain my composure...sometimes I just give into it and have a good cry. Don, I hope you are feeling better cuz I sure could use some of your feel good energy right about now. Debbie in Wa.
Guest guest
I have been going to a gastro in Mt.Vernon. I will be seeing a hepatologist at the University of Wa. One of the best in the country as Steve pointed out. It is in Seattle. Not much of a drive about 80 miles south of here. I truly feel I'm not at the point where I'm going to need a transplant yet. I'll know more once I see the dr there. Debbie > > Debbie > > I'm so sorry that I haven't kept up in here and now just learning this piece of > information. Guest guest
Thursday afternoon, I had made home made nachos with home made chilii. Then I ate a few pieces of Hot Tamales candy. I laid down for my rest befoe heading out to dance. Suddenly It felt like my stomach was an exercise ball. This had happened at least once and when my brain comes back, maybe I'll check the archives. I thought maybe if I went to dance, I would be able to dance away some of the gas that was trapped. It felt pretty good while I was dancing, but there was no progress during the night. I started vomiting before work and you can't work in food prep if you have vomited during the last 24 hours. No changes happened during the afternoon. I started thinking of calling one of my dancing friends whose husband is a GI. Finally it occurred to me to call MY nurse line. She suggested we go to Urgent Care. We were almost to the nearest one, when I got called back from the office. My doctor told the nurse that if I needed any more extensive tests, I would end up in ER anyway, so we changed direction and went to the hospital. We sat for over 4 hours. Finally, we got in. They did a CT Scan. The diagnosis was pancreatitis, possibly caused by gall stones and they were possibly caused by RA drugs. (don't know whicn ones. I've been NPO since Thursday night. So they did an ultrasound, then admitted me to the hospital. I have a dancing trip scheduled from April 6 to 10. The pain has been incredible. It feels like extreme gas pain. I am allowed to have up to .6 of dilaudid every two hours. But If you tell them you already have pain, by the time they get in with an injectino,, the pain Last night, the nurse suggested they use a CPA. That is so much better. No lag time between the beginning of pain and the injection . And I'm not falling asleep in the middle of an email. I was checked for gall stones ten years ago or more. I had none. I'll update later. dd
