Guest guest
Hi, I've been told that gammagard (that's what I take) lasts without refrigeration (as long as it's not hot) for a week or so. Don't know about Bay Gam. HTH, Anne R Have you ever? My son is getting BayGam sub-Q weekly. With the hustle and bustle of my day on Tuesday, I forgot to put his monthly supply of BayGam in the refigerator and didn't discover it until Friday night. I've talked to the pharmacist at the home health company and he's trying to get in touch with Bayer. Have any of you ever had a similar experience? I figure the medicine is spoiled, but am praying for a miracle. I won't probably know anything until Monday. In the meantime, he won't get his infusion until the home health company can locate some more or until we hear from Bayer. Talk about feeling so stupid! I have a million reasons how it happened, but none matter in this situation. I can't get anyone at Bayer to answer the phone even though they make you think they're working today. I'm just wondering if anyone has had something similar on a refigerated medicine, and what your experiences were. Just grasping for straws, I suppose. Shari Mom to Braden (age 9 - polysaccharide non-responsive antibody dysfunction w/ hypogammaglobulinemia).
Guest guest
For IVIG reconstituted I've heard that it's good anywhere from 6 hrs to 24 hrs. Home health said the 24 and the hospital infusion center said 6 hrs. Gammagard is coming out with a liquid med and I believe it will have a longer shelf-life. It's a simple accident during a crazy time (the holidays). I was so busy Tuesday getting ready for the invasion of relatives for Thanksgiving that I probably walked out of the house with my bra over my shirt. Stuff happens and you cannot be perfect every moment of the day! I once left out an antibiotic (left it out until the next dose, would not have remembered otherwise!) that was supposed to be refrigerated -- so yes, I have ever! So I'm telling you right now, you officially have permission to screw up once in a while! (mom to , age 6-1/2, dairy intolerant-related GERD -- currently has polysaccharide antibody def, previously had transient IgG, IgA, t-cell & other defs... and also to Kate, age 3!, more dairy intolerant but very healthy!)
