Guest guest
I have just visited my orthopeadic surgeon because of the knee pain caused by the inflammation. He told me it was most likely that i had rheumatoid in my knees now not osteoarthritis. I have had osteoarthritis in one knee since 2003 so how can it change between diseases or has the knees got both diseases at once. He was not impressed with the GP i saw she only put me on antibiotics and ordered no blood work so he ordered new blood work and i had both knees re xrayed, they were only xrayed in december. This week i will need to see my rheumatologist to have my medications re adjusted or a new one added, which is going to be a pain in the butt for my heavy week of seeing doctors. I am just annoyed that my knees have changed into rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis is easier to control.
Guest guest
Osteoarthritis is pretty hard to control, too. Actually, I think today there are better meds for RA than there are for osteoarthritis. And, yes, you can have both at the same time. Some of us are really lucky, aren't we? Guest guest
Hi le: That is what I am going through now. This was always my " good knee " , and right now it is pain city. I have had 2 injections in the knee, with no help from the pain, swelling, and suffering. In 3 weeks my knee went from great to a collapsed knee. Had x-rays and they showed bone on bone. You couldn't even put a piece of paper between the bones. I see my knee surgeon Mon., and will set up as soon as possible for a total knee replacement. I am living on Percosets, but still in agony with the pain. I have a high tolerence to pain, but right now my pain level is in orbit. I can't walk or put weight bearing on it. I am using my walker for stabilitiy. My knee is loaded with O.A., plus R.A. I had my right knee totally replaced 5 years ago and it is just perfect. I think your Orthopedic is doing the right thing. Check things out for you, the x-rays and blood work, before he jumps on stronger meds. for you. Also good you are seeing your Rheumy very soon. All my drs. work together for my benenfit. But they leave the RA to my Rheumy. She is a wonderful dr., and I am so lucky to have her. Wishing you pain free days ahead.
