MRIs - with or without contrast?

I have an MRI scheduled for tomorrow... the rheumy wrote " + or - contrast " on it

so I'm not sure if I'm having the injection... is contrast typically used in

rheumatology cases? (I hate needles.)

Also, am I likely to even show any damage at this early stage? Just diagnosed

two months ago.
