Hi there,

I am currently 27 weeks pregnant with #1 (a boy) in my SU

resected. I actually had mine out before I ever ttc. My mom had

one, and had lots of losses and problems until she had hers

fixed. Then she had no problems. So, they checked me out, and

yep, I have an SU too, which I had resected in May 2002. I got

prg. in Sept. 2002, and am due May 28 2003. Just about one

year post surgery.

My septum was complete (down to my cervix) and avascular. I

currently have 1.5 cm remaining at the fundus (the doc didn't get

all of it in the surgery), which isn't causing any problems so far at

all. The surgery was not too bad.

I highly reccommend surgery for SU ladies. The literature

indicates that your chances of prg. success are nearly normal in

an SU resected, but much lower in an uncorrected SU. Not to

say you *can't* have a good prg in an uncorrected SU, but it's

much less likely. Good to maximize those odds! And the

surgery and recovery only take about 3 months out of your ttc

efforts.

Good luck and keep us updated,

Jill

I have a great success story.... i am currenlty preggie with #3, first

pregnancy since septum was resected in Oct. 2002. My first pregnancy is when

they found the septum, i had a fairly easy preg. with preterm labor starting

at 29 wks, i was put on bedrest and i made it to 34wks and delivered a

healthy baby boy, weighing 5lbs 14.2ozs, via c-section, he was breech, prob.

due to septum. Well, obs didn't feel necesarry to send me to RE because first

preg went well. I was not so fortunate with second preg.I started contracting

at 24wks, i was put on bedrest and made it to 33.5wks, i had a complete

placental abruption and our dd was born still, weighing 5lbs,3oz. The past

seven months has been the hardest of my life!!!!I went to see an RE, he def.

wanted the septum out, he couldn't say for sure that the septum had anyhting

to do with my abruption but he felt there was no need totake another chance

with future pregnancies. I had it removed in oct and i am preggie again!!!

For all you women not knowing what to do, take it from someone who

experienced a GREAT LOSS, have it removed, bettter to be safe than sorry!!!

Well, good luck and God Bless!!!!

Hi (sorry, I don't know your name!)-

I don't have children yet but am responding because it's pertinent.

I had a thick partial septum that caused me to go into pre-term labor

at 23 weeks. I lost my son last year because of it. I was diagnosed

after the loss and have had 2 surgeries to date. My RE gave me a 10-

15% chance of carrying to term with the septum left as is.

I am an advocate for the surgery. Now that my uterus is roomy, my

chances of carrying to term are quite good; nearly that of a " normal

uterus " person.

There are plenty of success stories here and I hope you get strength

from them!

I have been doing IE since January and have been lurking since then.

I have read every digest post religiously. The way I started IE is a

little ironic. My work started a Biggest Loser competition and I had

heard of IE and thought this was the motivation to try it. If I had

been reading the book or these posts beforehand, I would have

realized that weighing in every other week and making peace with food

should not be compatible. Even so, I steadily lost about 3 pounds

every two weeks. The competition ended in April and I immediately

started losing less (about a pound every two weeks, now at 26

pounds). I know I shouldn't keep weighing, but it's hard to resist

when the number keeps dropping. I must have been more strict about

the eating when hungry, stopping when full thing during the

competition. Yesterday when I read all the success stories, I

decided that if I got strict again, I would probably lose the three

pounds a week again. Almost immediately, I went to talk to someone

in the break room. She was eating chips and salsa and I dived in

with her when I knew I wasn't hungry. I realized instantly that it

was a kind of diet rebellion. That realization actually thrills me.

I know I don't have to go crazy, just stick to what I'm doing. I am

mostly waiting until I'm hungry and I am eating a lot less. I have

reached a point where the thought of really overdoing it makes me

sick. I don't miss the bloated, sick feeling I so frequently had.

My irritable bowel problem has mostly gone away. Keeping snack food

handy has made a huge difference. I was letting myself get way too

hungry between lunch and dinner, then way overdoing dinner. Anyway,

this has been a thrilling learning experience ride and I know I will

never go back to dieting. Thank you all for continuing to inspire me.
