Guest guest
Hi Kari, Because it is kind of late and my brain is not really functional right now, I am afraid of giving any more than a real basic explanation.. tomorrow I might do better! Simply, GGT, ALT and AST are liver enzymes..if they are elevated they indicate that there is something causing inflamation to the liver. Normal levels for GGT range from 0 - 51, ALT range from 6 - 59, and for AST, 10 - 34. Slight elevations are usually not a cause for concern for doctors... other illnesses, even stress can cause small fluctuations. AIH often causes these enzymes to go way up... some of the folks here can tell you that.... from being in counts in the several hundreds...or even over 1000 or 2000. One of the books you see recommended here frequently, Palmer's " Hepatitis and Liver Diseases " has a good explanation of the enzymes and how they relate to the various liver diseases. Also, if you page back in the message archives...I know there are some links for interpreting the tests. One source is WebMD..has some info there on autoimmune hep and the various tests. Hope this is of some help... nne > Hello nne, > I am new to this, how important is your ALT and AST tests, because I just > got my results and am not sure what they mean or if they are really high? > Any info will help, thanks in advance!! > > Kari > [ ] Finally! > > > > I finally get to brag! > > For the first time in a long time (seems like a long time to me) I am > > seeing some significant improvement in my LFT...the 6MP has done its > > job! Guest guest
Art, These boys are masters of spin-control. I mean the Bush administration. Several points to consider: 1) The Bush family owns millions in Abbott Pharmaceutical stock. 2) Tommy , was forced to sell his Abbott stock & Merck stock after his appointment. He received $50,000 from Monsanto when elected as Gov of Wisconsin. He opposes mandatory labeling of Genetically modified food because it would " frighten consumers " . (Monsanto is THE producer of Genetically modified crops) 3) If anything, HIPPA will probably lead to the eventual demise of alternative health care providers, because you can bet that the medical establishment will be in charge of HIPPA. This is from http://naturalhealthline.com/newsletter/991201/fedmed.htm. " ...Nick , alternative cancer clinician, says of HIPPA: " The goal of health care 'reform' is to have a dictionary in Washington listing 'acceptable' treatments. If you look up 'breast cancer,' there are the 'acceptable' treatments -- and anything else will be disallowed. They essentially want all doctors to conform to government standards. " Journalist Jon Rappoport (author of AIDS, Inc.) added, " If you're a holistic doctor and they don't like what you're doing, you'll be guilty of practicing 'illegal medicine' and ... " " ...HIPAA...requires the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to adopt a " unique health identifier " for every: (1) individual, (2) health care provider, (3) health plan, and (4) employer... Alternative providers in particular should pay close attention to the plans to assign everyone a " unique health identifier. " The reason is that it will be much easier to single out certain providers and treatments, once all health care transactions are compiled in a central database or " clearinghouse. " The new health identifiers will be used to tag and track each person's medical information electronically, whether health care is paid for privately or by government. It will become like today's system whereby it's almost impossible to function in life without using a Social Security number. It's not yet clear who will be in charge of setting standards for coding the data and controlling the clearing-houses. But if history is any indication, it will likely be controlled by powerful organized medical associations. The legislation to assign everyone a " unique personal identifier " was written by a coalition of health care groups, including insurers, hospitals, and providers. Their purported goal is to simplify administrative transactions. However, it could also simplify the ability to target alternative medical providers. " Scary stuff. Guest guest
Tim Bolen is usually right on. I'm afraid that, assuming of course that the original message actually was from Tim, he missed by a mile on that one. It is strange, however, that i never received that message from Tim although i am one of the original members of his mailing list. Furthermore, a search of his site fails to turn it up either. Could this be a Quackwatch effort to discredit Tim? Just wondering. On Friday, January 31, 2003, at 03:30 AM, MJ wrote: > Art, > > These boys are masters of spin-control. Guest guest
Hi Neil - Re: Tim Bolen or no Time Bolen Here's how I see it: The momentum of the alternative health movement is strongly underway. I can't see anything turning it back except an occasional - and very temporary - bump in the road due an occasional outburst of the old dying order ... the last gasps of impotent rage against the new. The God-awful pharmaceutical health care model kind of reminds me of the Soviet Union in it's last days. Washington, always the last to know (and frequently care anyway), is picking up on the value and importance of alternative measures slowly but surely. It now finds itself scrambling to find ways to say " we told you so " . Ha. The error of their ways is becoming incresasingly self evident. I'd be mortally embarrassed to be a health care official in Washington these days. - Art Re: [ ] Finally! > Tim Bolen is usually right on. Guest guest
Neil, Yeah, either that or someone is attempting to give a false stamp of approval from the alternative health care sector. It does seem, on the face of it, like it would benefit CAM practitioners & patients. The devil is in the details, so to speak. A " unique health identifier " , central database, etc. smacks of Big Brother. Welcome to the New World Order? Miki Re: [ ] Finally! > Tim Bolen is usually right on. I just wanted to share it all with you, as it's been your expereinces that convinced me to do this! Thanks for everything, and I will continue to keep you all posted! P.S. Oh yeah -- I have chosen the Nucleus for my device! P.P.S. Just an update to the last time I posted, re: the Auria processor -- the AB rep emailed me back and said the Auria is still not out yet, adn they hope to have it out by the end of the year. My gut original instinct has always been the Nucleus, so I just took that as a sign that I made the right choice!
Guest guest
Hi I am so happy that you have a surgery date set..You will be hearing the wonderful sounds of Christmas.Have a wonderful summer and good luck with your moving!! Love Dora finally! I was finally able to get in touch with the director of audiology after trying for a few days . . . she called the OR coordinator and set my surgery date for August 12th! It still seems too far away; I couldhave done it in July, but I will probably have to move out of my apartment at the end of July, and there's not way I could do that right after having surgery, so I have to wait. Guest guest
Dora, Your post made me cry . . . I hadn't even thought about Christmas sounds! I remember last year how left out I felt of all my family get-togethers, even with everyone's best efforts and intentions. Plus, Christmas carols, sleigh bells, the Salvation Army bell outside the stores . . . YAY! Just the thought of that makes my day! Thanks! P.S. Pete, I am so happy for you that your vision is returning to normal; you must be very relieved. > Hi > I am so happy that you have a surgery date set..You will be hearing the wonderful sounds of Christmas.Have a wonderful summer and good luck with your moving!! > Love Dora > finally! > > I was finally able to get in touch with the director of audiology > after trying for a few days . . . she called the OR coordinator and > set my surgery date for August 12th! Guest guest
Dora, There is something special about Christmas music. Back in February when I returned home after getting my HiRes, the first thing I did was play a Christmas CD. My thoughts went all the way back to when I was in the 1st grade, and we were singing Christmas Carols in the auditorium. Mind you, that was in 1937! Guest guest
, enjoyed your website. My wife and I are puppyraisers for Southeastern Guide Dogs here in Florida. Our first Guide dog puppy just graduated and is with a really nice man. We are now raising a 7 month old yellow lab named Chessie. Before that we were raisers for service dogs for Paws with A Cause. Always have a puppy around. A lot of work but the rewards are great. Mike ville Fl Re: Re: finally! (hands Silly a case of Kleenex. Guest guest
Mike, We love our puppy raisers. Since Guide Dogs for the Blind has a campus right here, i have gotten to meet a lot of raisers. Gimlet was the second dog her raisers had but was the first to graduate. Matter of fact we celebrate our 5th anniversary a week from today, Wow! She is such a puppy even now. LOL Enjoy those puppies! *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* (With loud music playing in the background) " Hello... HELLO?? I can't hear you! What? Oh.. we're not home, leave a message. Guest guest
Hey Nick, The waiting is the most annoying part.Thinking back---I havn't had a side affect yet that has ticked me off more than I was ticked at waiting and waiting and-----oh well, you get the idea. One thing I suggest to you is to get clear with your insurance provider and go through the pre-approval stuff now, so that you don't have to wait on that.I had a month supply of Pegasys siting in the fridge at Eckerds for almost 2 weeks because one little paper wasn't signed. So,line up all your duckies and get ready to join the fight. If you're a solid fighter, you are in great company with me.I hope all goes smoothly for you.I am taking EffexorXR as well. They always start you on a low dosage to get your body use to it.You'll probably need more as time goes by.Don't sweat all the small stuff and the big things will take care of themselves......TAM > Hello everyone, > > Well, I'm finally going to get my biopsy done on the 1st of March. > Then, onto the tx.
