Guest guest
LDN is NEVER BEEN DOUBLE BLIND tested for what the LDN follower say that it works for...it has a cult like following..please do some research...Have you tried remicaide? I used mtx and remicaide for many years with no side effects and a huge reduction in pain disability. I think that LDN benefits are about the same as taking a placebo. what other medication could you take 1/10 of the dose and it be effective for new diseases. Granted the dose is so small that the likelihood of adverse reactions is slight. Just my opinion.. Deb RN From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Fiona Sent: Tuesday, July 20, 2010 10:42 PM Subject: [ ] LDN??? Anyone tried low dose Naltrexone for RA? I'm considering it. Tried Plaquenil, Methotrexate & Minocycline. I'm 50-had it for 6+ years. Trying to avoid drugs with possible scary side effects. Guest guest
I think the key will be improvements in labs rather then subjective improvements.....that is the one thing LDN is good for and that is placebo affect/effect. I hope that u feel better...... Deb rn Sent from my iPhone On Jul 22, 2010, at 10:41 AM, Fiona Vallejo <fionavallejo@...> wrote: Thanks Deb RN, I started taking the LDN last night at 1mg dose. Guest guest
Hi All, I've been on LDN now for about 2 weeks. Did 1mg per night for 10 days, have now doubled it to 2mg per night for a few nights. Notice relief of pain & stiffness-but still have 2 swollen , red slightly sore knuckles. Will bump it to 3mg in another week or so. Does anyone know if this is a DMARD or is it still unknown? Definately notice that certain foods like Marinara sauces, bell peppers & mushrooms give me more pain. Any one who thinks they can continue on their merry path of sodas, aspartame, high fuctose corn syrup, white breads , Fruit Loop style cereals & salty msg laden foods is sorely mistaken. Clean it up. Read up on the food groups-do some research -take control of your bodies, the Dr you see doesn't feel your pain. Incidently -omega oil capsules are to be swallowed, so one will not taste fish and the same goes for turmeric capsules-you won't taste the " spice " . Please let me know if anyone else is using low dose naltrexone (LDN) Look it up-if you don't know it. Cheers, Fiona
Guest guest
Fiona, Low dose naltrexone is not considered a DMARD for rheumatoid arthritis. I am not aware of any large studies which have shown it to be a safe and effective treatment for RA. Not an MD On Mon, Aug 2, 2010 at 12:25 PM, Fiona Vallejo <fionavallejo@...> wrote: > Hi All, I've been on LDN now for about 2 weeks. Guest guest
Hi, haven't posted here in a long time, but my daughter (15yo in 5 days) started on LDN, 4mg/night, in October, '09 and has seen *dramatic* improvement. Within a few weeks she was feeling as good as taking heavy doses of NSAIDS (which she was no longer able to take due to stomach pains from them) and continued to see improvement over the following months to the point where she almost feels disease free. She tried a couple weeks w/o and started to see some return of pain and inflammation. Prior to LDN she had tried methotrexate and saw no improvement at all even at the highest dose. We tried all kinds of things and besides some help with pain with taking nsaids this is really the only thing that has made a difference for her. Guest guest
I just finished trying LDN for about 5 weeks for RA. Started at 1mg 1st wk, 2mg 2nd wk, 3mg 3rd week-felt some pain relief in hand & wrist. I decided not to go up to the 4mg dose because I was waking up 3-4x per night on it and felt depressed & weepy during the day. Plus it did not reduce the 2 big swollen knuckle joints in my hand. It is still unknown if it can do more than help with the pain. Had my 1st infusion of Orencia today-want to stop further joint damage to my hands & feet. Glad it works for your daughter-so young! I'm a " young " 50. Guest guest
Fiona, initially my daughter just saw pain relief (and increased mobility along with it) as well, but the longer she was on it the more the swelling started to reduce. She also had some insomnia initially, but after a few weeks or so she adjusted to that... definitely no comparison to the side effects of the usual drugs to be sure!
