, yes, it is common. It is known as REM Behaviour Disorder. When

we sleep and enter REM sleep, our bodies normally supress all activity.

Unfortunately, as we age, this control can slip. It appears that MSA can

often be associated with REM Behaviour Disorder. It appears to make it

worse.

So, if someone complains they thrash about (often violently) during their

sleep, they should see a sleep specialist. There are some medications that

can help decrease this problem.
