Guest guest
It's a shame you had to back up, it's hard to do. When I started Humira, I was down to 2.5 mg of Prednisone and was expecting to get off completely by the time I finish my chemo for Prostate cancer, but was 'ordered' to go back to my regular dose when I started having this flare seemingly caused by the Humira. I've stopped taking Humira and MTX for the next couple of months or 3. It gets really frustrating when our attempts fail, thinking in the back of our minds that we failed again! Maybe we need to be put into a coma until our bodies can accept the change in our symptoms. Think that might work?? LOL Be safe and better luck on your next attempt. Guest guest
Oh Barbara that sounds so painful. I am sure the weather is a big factor. Going north should truly help you. Please take advantage of the hadicap services in the airports. Raniolo From: bcreedon <bcreedon@...> Subject: [ ] Back to 10 mg. of Prednisone Date: Tuesday, August 25, 2009, 1:52 PM Hi everyone: I was down to 5 mg. of Pred. but started to have a few problems. Had to go back to my original dose of 10 mg. a day. I started with a flare of my feet and ankles, then my hands started to be painful. My ring finger on my right hand swelled so bad in the night, I awoke with the pain. My son had to cut the ring off my finger. Boy, did that hurt! I called my Rheumy and think I caught this flare in time. Today is the third day of the 10 mg., and my feet and ankles are fine. So is the rest, except for that one finger. It is still badly swollen, and very painful. I am sure it will be gone in a few days. I see my Rheumy Mon. and leave the next day for Mass. I won't start another decrease until I am back home. You know me, I will try again to get off my Prednisone. Maybe one day I will be successful. Wishing everyone better days ahead. I pray for everyone to be pain free. Guest guest
Hi : It is painful, and my Rheumy said the same thing about the weather we are now having. I so want to be well and stay well this visit. I am sick of getting sick going home!!!! Yes, I have arranged for a wheelchair here and in Boston. I have used this service several times flying. I always fly Jet Blue and they are so terrific to me. How are you feeling? Is this weather causing you pain also? I know you weren't feeling very good the last time we talked. Thanks for your post to me. Wishing you many pain free days ahead. Guest guest
Hi Dennis: I know you know what I feel like. Things were going good, then bam, the flare started. It does make us feel like a failure. It sounds so simple to decrease and get off it. How is your Chemo going? You sure have so much to deal with. Such is our lives with RA. I hope you are not too sick from it. How many treatments will you be having? My thoughts and prayers are with you, and praying for a good outcome. It would be nice to get off the rollar coaster ride with RA. I never did like that ride!!! Wishing you good days ahead, and also to be pain free. Say hi to Betty for me. I know she has a full plate too. Hugs, Barbara > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone: I was down to 5 mg. of Pred. but started to have a few > > problems. Guest guest
I've been having a good old time so far. First, I got the news from my oncologist, which was expected really. I didn't come prepared because I didn't know it was rated so didn't know what to ask or say. He made an appointment for the doctor that would give the treatment, then we found out he wasn't in my network. Another week passed and yesterday I saw the one (female) I'll probably use.Lots of tests and MRI's, etc, then insert gold dots in the target zone before any further treatment. I was given the impression that if I didn't get this done now, I may not be here later. At least that's the way it was being presented. So she's looking at sometime in Sept for the start date, then do 40 days of traveling 35 miles one way for each of them. That's a lot of gas and time for a 20 minute procedure. I'm going to get the bike out and use it as much as I can. It gets better gas mileage and will be a breath of fresh air instead of the closed in van. Everything else is going as good as this, so we're doing GGRREEEAAATTT! Guest guest
Hi Dennis: I know you are dealing with so much right now. I am praying for you to have a complete recovery from your prostrate cancer. I know the long ride, expense of gas, etc. it a lot for you to handle. But at least they will begin your treatment next month. I hope you can tolerate it, and the time passes quickly. Be safe, and I wish you many good wishes through all this. We just never know what we will have to deal with. Hugs, Barbara > > > > > > It's a shame you had to back up, it's hard to do. Guest guest
Dennis, Good luck on your treatment. The time will pass quickly once you start treatment. I am glad to hear you didn't have to have surgery. Books on tape/cd or good music may help pass time while your driving. Your in my thoughts and prayers along with all the others in this great group. Guest guest
Hi Barbara - I'm a little behind on the posts, but I wanted to let you know how sorry I am that this attempt at stopping Prednisone did not work for you. I am happy to hear you are feeling better now and feel that the ring finger may be bruised from having to cut off the ring. Keep an eye on it - praying it stops hurting soon as well. I've not posted much lately. I'm in a bad place right now. I got notice of an " Unfavorable Decision " from SSD this past Friday and I just can't seem to shake the feelings it has left me with. Depressed, disheartened, deeply saddened - you name it, I'm feeling it. I have a phone conference scheduled with my SSD attorney tomorrow morning. There are a lot of stuff in the ruling that is wrong. The next step is a review by the Appeals Council. I pray they see the errors in the ruling and overturn it, but I just don't know anymore. I hurt all over, my back is killing me - you name it, I'm feeling it (again). Anyway - my prayers are with you for a safe and " event free " trip home to MA. Keep us posted.....Doreen > > > Hi everyone: I was down to 5 mg. of Pred. but started to have a few > problems. Guest guest
Hi Doreen: OMG, I just can not believe that they turned you down. All you have been through, and all you are still going through is just terrible. Like you, I would be stuned, depressed, and angry. Your attorney will be there for you. I am glad you will have a conference call, then a hearing. I know they are notorious for turning people down the first time. You so deserve the SSDI approval, and I know how badly you need the ins. I feel very angry at their decission. Very, very unfair. I know you will fight this, and I believe you will get your SSDI. Your attorney should be able to decipher their reasoning, then fight hard for your approval. I want you to know that I care very much for you Dorren, and I know what hell you are going through. Between all your pain and daily suffering, now you have to deal with this. I am so sorry about that. I know you are very sad, and I hope you your depression is short term. Please take care of yourself, and just know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I know you will win your SSDI approval. I am still doing good, can't wait to get home and have my little granddaughters in my arms. My ring finger is better, and can bend it now. I will start to decrease my Pred. after I get home. The day before I leave, I have a court date for support. Horray!!!! He has not given me anything since Dec. Yikes, what an awful thing to do to me. I am not used to being broke........... God Bless you Doreen, and praying for you to have many pain free days ahead. Love and hugs, Barbara > > > > > > Hi everyone: I was down to 5 mg. of Pred. but started to have a few > > problems.
