Guest guest
Judy, Are you aware that Propulsid was pulled off the market on July 14? There is some indication it may cause heart problems. Have you talked to your doctor about continuing it? Don't stop it without talking to your doctor, however. Take care, Bill and Charlotte
Guest guest
Yes, Bill, we are aware of the problems with propulsid. We discussed it with our doctor months ago. However, it is my understanding that in certain cases, it will still be available from the manufacturer, and we (doctor, Ned and I) feel it is still the best medicine for Ned. With all of his swallowing problems (swallowing difficulties was one of his early, major symptoms and the one that caused his employer to put him off on permanent disability) propulsid works the best for Ned relative to reflux/aspiration etc. We are still waiting to hear from the manufacturer to see if Ned fits their " profile " of someone who could still benefit from this drug. Thanks for mentioning it to us though. If we had not known of the problem with Propulsid, it would have been important for us to learn about. Judy B. Guest guest
Judy B. Just wanted to check. Charlotte has used both Prilosec and Prevacid and both worked great with the acid reflux. We open the capsules and put the contents in Redi Whip usually. The granules do not go through the PEG easily. Guest guest
Thanks for the input on Prevacid. I think that is what the doctor is going to switch Ned to since getting the propulsid now requires testing (EDG) etc. and Ned is not up to u ndergoing further tests. Judy B.
