steroid injections in neck

Hi,

I am going to get a steroid injection into my neck on Tuesday due to my

herniated disc problems and would like to know if this would affect you like

oral steroids do.I was on the steroid pills once and I gained weight and was the

wicked witch of the west(or in my case the northeast!)Does the medication only

stay where they inject it or does it go into your bloodstream? If this doesnt

work, I wont go for another.My neurologist said eventually I will just need

surgery anyway.Thanks so much for any input.
