Guest guest
Thanks for the advice Latoya. I feel as does. For two days my obsessing has been over food, albeit in a different way, but still about food. However, some of the obsessing is exciting because I know it is leading to new discoveries about myself. It's not obsessing over what I "should" eat, but what I want to eat. Several times today I had so much difficulty figuring out what I actually WANTED. I would go back and forth, back and forth. But I suppose that subsides as well. Re: Another newcomer! ,Welcome to the group! Being super focused on food and eating in thebeginning is normal for alot of people...it definitely was for me.When I first started IE, I diligently tracked my hunger and thoughtabout IE constantly. After two weeks, I realized that I was drivingmyself crazy and relaxed about the process. I needed to go throughthat extreme phase to find a comfortable relationship with theprinciples and the process. As you continue incorporating IE into your life, you'll discover whatworks best for you. You said that you want to have a "healthierrelationship" with the food that you eat. What does that meanspecifically for you? What does that look and feel like? The more youcan feel, envision, and talk about what that "healthier relationship"is...the more you will be able to determine where you want to focus ateach stage in your IE journey. As an example, I knew that one of mycore issues was emotional eating. So, I've invested alot of time withprinciple 7. Each new insights about my emotional eating guides me tonew and betters ways to support and respond to my needs. Each newinsight you gain about your hunger and fullness...guides you to thenext step in working with your hunger and fullness. All of this is tosay that the practice of IE (working with the principles daily) is thepath and the process helps reveal the next steps as you go along. It takes time and practice to transform old habits into new morebalanced way of eating and taking care of your body. One of my topsuggestions is to have fun with IE!
