Guest guest
I have *heard* that pasta can increase your appetite. Don't know if it's true or not. Proverbs 31 Subject: Pasta and weird experienceTo: "Intuitive Eating" <IntuitiveEating_Support >Date: Monday, October 6, 2008, 1:55 PMSo I had pasta yesterday evening and leftovers today. Both times I really drooled about it and it tasted just fine. And both times I overate, felt full but not satisfied. I wonder why that is. It's not always the case. Sometimes I have the same problem with rice dishes. I want it, I eat it, it tastes really good, I feel full - but I'm not really satisfied and want something else. Or more of it even though I'm full. Guest guest
What flashed in my mind was perhaps your body is trying to tell you that pasta or rice is an 'incomplete' (protein component) and to continue so that you can get the 'other' part? It would be interesting to find if eating beans or corn with rice could overcome that? Just a thought. Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > So I had pasta yesterday evening and leftovers today. Guest guest
I don't know that pasta " increases " your appetite, but since it doesn't require a lot of intense chewing, you can eat a lot more of it before those " fullness " signals kick in. I think it's easier to overeat too when you don't have much variety to the dish. I find I eat less macaroni and cheese when I put some slivers of canadian bacon or ham in it. The book " Mindless Eating " is an interesting read because they deal with just those sort of things - for instance, that we eat more when a candy dish is on the desk, instead of a short walk across the office. > > > Subject: Pasta and weird experience > To: " Intuitive Eating " <IntuitiveEating_Support > > Date: Monday, October 6, 2008, 1:55 PM > > So I had pasta yesterday evening and leftovers today. That was my idea, too. It's only interesting that I have that effect only from time to time. Besides I ate the pasta with pesto (fat) and parmesan (protein). I think it might have to do with what July said as well. Maybe I just had the drive to overeat because after eating pasta so often during my stay in Switzerland I didn't have it for several weeks. Now that I was really drooling about it again after not wanting to have it for a while, maybe I overate because of this. Regards s.

Didn't some diet gurus say that an abundance of variety makes us eat more and that a lack of variety makes food " boring " ? Lol. However, I think that this might be the reason. A bowl of some mix doesn't seem to be as satisfying as a plate with several foods on it. I usually mix rucola into the pasta but couldn't get it this time. Maybe the pasta dish just seemed too... plain? I don't know. Regards s.
Guest guest
That sounds quite realistic to me. I know I have mini-binge type of reactions to something that I haven't eaten in some time. It just tastes SO GOOD, I don't want to stop eating (tasting really) it!! Yes I know I can have it another time, but at that moment its WONDERFUL so why not enjoy it totally? :) ehugs, Katcha IEing since March 2007 > > Maybe I just had the drive to overeat because after eating pasta so > often during my stay in Switzerland I didn't have it for several weeks. > Now that I was really drooling about it again after not wanting to have > it for a while, maybe I overate because of this. > > Regards > s. >
