Guest guest
Hi Hannah and : I though that I would add my two cents worth on the distraction issue. I find that the great movies work very well, (I find reading difficult if I am in pain and can't hold up the book), but a classic funny movie, works every time! Some of my personal favorites are My Fair Lady, Overboard, and almost anything with or Cary Grant in it! Spend the extra bucks and ge the old movie channels on your cable system. Now that I am home so much I watch a lot more TV than I used to, and many of the great movies are on the old movie channels. The other thing that I get a great kick out of is the Hallmark channel, and TVLand. For a quick 1/2 hr pick me up I watch "I Dream of Jeanie," "Bewitched," "Leave it to Beaver," or any other silly show. Kelli Hi Hannah, I just had this thought and wanted to share it with you. Pain is strongly influenced by our emotions. How we react to pain greatly influences it's intensity and our ability to function. I know this is not what you want to hear, especially when you're in pain, but it's important to know. Try to take the focus off your pain. Studies show that when we distract our mind away from the pain the signals lesson and pain reduces. Try watching a really funny movie, call someone on the phone, do a puzzle (one of my diversions)... Try diversions and see if it helps, if even a little. I hope this helps you. If you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot, and hang on, God is only a prayer away. Guest guest
.....................DOREEN..........TAWNY.........GROUP......... Doreen,,,,,,,,Thanks so much for your prayers. The creams I had put away from last years exema and psorisis attack is working great. I felt relief emmidiately. In a few hours it was felling tolerable. and one full day most disappeared. (weird) Tawny..........I love reading your post to everyone, its so warm and heart felt as many are. I feel like you do also. Hearing the suffering we all go through, breaks my heart sometimes. My palms and hands feel so much better. It is almost gone on my palms, My bottoms of my feet may take a while, one can even see where 2/3 ds of the skin has come off. It's not raw but feels it. I can walk much easier now thanks to all of your prayers. My prayers are with you and everyone here. Group...........As I read your posts, I think of how common RA is. I found out mine when I fell and they exrayed my hand and said it look like Rhuematoid arthritis. I was blown away . When I had test for RA and they couldnt find it. Now my fingers was turning before the doctors even knew I had it. I asked my rhuemy to x-ray my feet cause they are always hurting. She said I had no cushion between the joints of my toes and I had some bone spurs. OMG did these things just appear or what lol???? Than I was told I had bursitis in my shoulders hips and knees, found that out by crawling on the floor looking under my bed. My knees started killing me right out of the blue. After some more complaints I had osteo arthritis in my lower back. OMg I thought no more please. I thought all my pain was from fibromyalgia. Now the fibro don't seem so bad. (but it is) What I seem to be saying is, I see you guys saying basically things that attack us sooner or later. THese rare diseases are amazing. I am so sorry that everyone has to suffer so much. My husband is 51 and he aches once in a while. It seems strange that how it hits people. Your fine one year than out the next. My hubby runs around working on everything. I pray that he continues doing all these things he loves. I miss so much. I know you all do to. We grab the good times when ever we can. I pray everynight and during the day for all of you. I believe so much in prayer. Please remember me in your prayers. God bless you all. Gentle kind hugs Clora Oh one more thing. I live in Gaffney SC where that serial killer was. Just a small hick town at the border of NC. I hear that 30 years ago they had another serial killer for a few years. They said no one would leave their house unless they had too. I was really scared during the last one. My hubby is a convience type clerk here. It was so terrifying.
Guest guest
Hi Clora, So glad to hear your feeling better. It's hard enough dealing with pain, and then on top of it, psorisis. I know when taking that cholesterol me, my skin itched so bad, and was so hot, it felt like I was being burned with fire. When I'm not feeling so bad, I love to be active on the group. I love my RA family, and if I can help someone, it makes me feel good. I know how it feels to be in pain, or new to RA, and alone. People just don't understand if their not aware about these diseases. The fibro is very painful Clora, you need to find a med that is right for you. I've been on neurontin for a long time for the fibro, but mainly for my neuropathy pain. I'm still on it, but I am on cymbalta, and that drug is so great, in my books. I've had no trouble with it, and all my fibro pain is gone. So, please don't suffer. I also suffer from bursitis, it's awful. Do you get the sacs of fluid? I just thought it was the RA, but no it wasn't. We just need to do the best we can, to have some happy pain free days, or tolerable. I know having NO pain is unlikely to most of us. I'm glad your feeling better, and I pray you continue to get better each day. You know your in my prayes my friend. Take care, and have a peaceful rest tonight, Tawny PS:that was very scary about the serial killer. I'm glad they finally caught him, and you, and your family are safe. > > ....................DOREEN..........TAWNY.........GROUP......... > > Doreen,,,,,,,,Thanks so much for your prayers.
