Guest guest
All, Practicing the IE principles has required effort yes and has also brought alot of joy and fun to my life. So, I wanted to take some time to recognize ways to really enjoy and have fun with the IE principles and process. Tracking my hunger process revealed some funny quirks about myself that I never knew before...how my stomach growls and gurgles differently, and how the growls get longer and louder the longer I wait and I know my stomach means business:), how my abdomen area starts getting warm, how waiting and feeling hunger is a true gift. I love making lists...so I got lists for things to do besides eat, lists of all of my favorite foods/meals...these lists have grown as I've grown with IE...it's such a relief to have these resources available and not have to remember all of the things I like to do and all of the things that I like to eat. I love that I can now buy things like chocolate pudding and have it in the refrigerator for multiple days and even forget that it's there...versus before when I would eat the 4 cups within a day of purchase. I love that I move for fun now (versus burning calories and to look " good " or " fit " for other people)...move for energy it brings to my life, to help manage my emotional states, and just for the pure joy of expressing through my body. I love that I can watch commercials now about diets, eating, fast food, exercise equipment and the various tv shows that mention some diet or joke about fat and feel that I have a home base with IE to help keep me centered, focused, and free from the restrictiveness, needless suffering, judgment...you name it that goes along with the old diet paradigm. I love inventing new IE experiments with eating and movement and trying new ways to deal with my emotional states. I love that IE comes from the inside-out. These are just some of things things that came to mind for me. How do you have fun with IE? What do you love about IE? Guest guest
Latoya, I love lists too and I think its a great idea to make a list that recognizes the ways in which you enjoy IE. I have only been doing this for two days...so far the best thing about it is that when I feel a pang of guilt or anxiety because I am eating a donut, ice cream, etc. I quickly myself that it is okay and repeat the principles to myself. The anxiety subsides just as quickly as it came. I've spent day after day after day anxious over food, so it feels fantastic to let go of the anxiety. I FEEL FREEEEEE! Guest guest
Great topic Latoya!! I have recently been really enjoying my walk with IE. I've had that darn TOM the last two days and that's one beast I haven't conquered in regards to eating yet, but today I am once again feeling my IE joy return. Here's what I enjoy because of IE... *I ENJOY actually looking through cookbooks this fall and not panicking! I'm enjoying bookmarking luscious fall and winter recipes and enjoying how warm and cozy they will make my house feel. *I ENJOY going out to eat, knowing that I can order exactly what I am craving and that I don't have to eat it all because I can do it again and again and again if I want! *I ENJOY walking in the fall because I love to move my body. I'm not out there to " burn calories " or " get healthy " , I'm out there because I love the smell of the leaves, I love the cool breeze on my skin and the warm sunshine on my face. I love the sounds of harvesting going on all around me. *I ENJOY finding IE spilling over into other areas of my life. I'm taking care of not only myself, but I'm taking care of my home and loving it! *I ENJOY finding out new things about myself every day. I'm stronger than I thought. I can handle much more than I realized. I have a lot of diverse interests and now I have time to pursue them. I am falling in love with who I am becoming. *I ENJOY eating again. And for me, that alone is HUGE. dawnz > > All, > > Practicing the IE principles has required effort yes and has also > brought alot of joy and fun to my life.
