Guest guest
The plot thickens with this disease. Costochondritis was the first " itis " I was diagnosed with, in 1979, at the age of 15. Very painful. I was tested for everything under the sun, including bone cancer. I still have a large lump on my chest. Tried a steroid shot into my chest, heart stopped, won't ever do that again! Then it was tendonitis, a year or so later. Casts, physio, numb fingers, major swelling within my arm. Still can't do anything too repetitive or it flares up. I think the next one was plantaar fasciitis. Couldn't walk, still deal with it when I'm on my feet for more than a short time. Wear orthotics, but have yet to find the ones that actually work. Worse in one foot than the other. Can't wear heels. At all. Then, osteoarthritis. Everywhere, it seems. Knee especially. Had it kind of fall apart about a year and a half ago, with no apparent reason. That's when the RA started to really rear it's ugly head, but the doc wouldn't listen. Now, onward and upward with rheumatoid arthritis. Took a long time for my GP to listen to what I was saying about upper arm pain, upper leg pain, and being so tired I couldn't move. Shoulders finally x-rayed, full of calcium deposits AND arthritis. No wonder I have trouble dressing and sleeping! Now the RA is spreading, my other knee, toes, and wrists have joined the party lately. Will it ever stop? Have I missed anything? Are there other people out there who have a series of " itises " ? Have they ever studied this to see if they are all related, and if so, can we stop them in their tracks? Wishful thinking, I know. Guest guest
Hi Leanne, I'm with you on all this. I've been affected all over with RA. I wear special shoes that were made but still can't walk without pain in my feet. My grandaughter(age 5) thinks my toes are hilarious, she even brought 1 of her school friends for tea so they could examine my feet.!!! I've got 1 shoulder lower/higher than the other,I've got 2 knees that look like balloons and have had faces painted on them, I've got 1 leg a different shape to the other, and a face that only a grandaughter could love. Two hands that have a mind of their own and look as though they've fallen out with each other. Fingers that look like knobbly sausages. Not a pretty sight. You just wonder what is next. Best wishes x From: Leanne <oldredmom@...> Subject: [ ] fill in the blank - itis! Date: Wednesday, 1 April, 2009, 3:15 AM The plot thickens with this disease.
