Hi OKD: I am sorry to read that you are hurting so badly. I wish your

dr. would give you something to ease your pain.

When I was in rehab. for my knee, the nurses were issued new blood

pressure machines. They are wonderful. They just strap it on your

wrist with a velcro closure and that is it. It is very comfortable, and

gives the correct blood pressure. You might want to suggest this to

your Dr.

A great improvment over the arm cuffs.

Hugs,

Barbara

Thanks for bringing this up. I thought I was being a big baby but I did notice

that when they take my pressure they have problems with even the big cup. It

hurts like my arm is ready to burst, then the reading is always high & they

have to re-do it sometimes twice. I have BP already & it was controlled until

lately it is constant high. I think it is due to my RA. I guess there is nothing

we can do on this side but be calm when they take our pressure.

Tell the doctor that you think you have " white coat syndrome. " In the

meantime, why don't you test your BP yourself. Walmart and most

pharmacies have a BP machine that you can use. Maybe you could relax

enough there so that you could get a more accurate reading. It might

still hurt, though; I don't know what you can do about that.

I agree Mousie, but meanwhile " back at the ranch " then they want to start you on

ANOTHER friggin pill for high B/P. It is the silent killer, but how will I ever

know?

I am going to ask if the docs can get those new B/P cuffs for the wrist.

Ugh....

Most women that are heavy will have upper arms that are large and tapering

toward the elbow. It takes a special cuff to really work. Betty has that

shape of arm so we had a difficult time trying to check her BP. WalMart

sells a wrist cuff tester and seems to be fairly accurate besides being easy

to use and read. Since we got one of them, either of us can test our BP any

time, any where, and they are affordable. That's what I recommend as a

salvation, and you can keep a log to show your doctor what your BP and pulse

rate are doing. And carry it with you and have it checked by the nurse that

usually takes those readings.
