Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group to you also. Have you started on Enbrel injections yet? I started Enbrel 50mg once a week 4 weeks ago, but some people have 25mg injected twice a week. Is it the idea of injecting yourself that bothers you? The way I see it is, that there is the possibility that by me doing this, I may actually feel better. How more satisfying is, that you are taking responsibility for your own disease and by doing so play a large part in possibly feeling in control. That's just how I feel about it, In the mean time ask questions, get on the internet, get as much info as you can. on here will post a lot of information on different aspects of different diseases on a daily basis more or less. Post a question and see what turns up. We are all at different stages with different diseases and on different drugs, but the one thing I do know, is that you learn something new every day. Best wishes x From: shellvil <s.stiffler@...> Subject: [ ] Hello, new to the group. Date: Sunday, 5 April, 2009, 4:58 AM Hi, my name's . This is the first time i've ever joined a support group. I've been living with RA for about 10 years. Diagnosed at 26. Recently my Dr. changed up my meds, not that its the first time they've been changed, but it seems more serious to me now. She put me on Enbrel.... I guess I was fine, when it was bunch of pills, but injections? I just need some more information and people who have been there done that!!! Thanks for your time! Guest guest
Hi Welcome to the group. I think as you meet the other in the group you will find that most of us are still searching for the right answers. I was on Enbrel but now am on Humera and injectable Methotrexate ( I ma going to stop that one I think ) I think the biologicals ( Enbrel, Humera ) do help. I have a lot less knee pain with the Humera. My Rhu said that the Humera is basically to help avoid knee replacements etc as I get older. I neglected to tell him I stopped aging at 5. LOL. Welcome to the group and feel free to ask, tell, or just vent. Welcome again Heidibug On Sat, Apr 4, 2009 at 11:58 PM, shellvil <s.stiffler@...> wrote: > Hi, my name's . Guest guest
, I've been on Enbrel for over five years, and it does a wonderful job of controlling the pain and inflammation. I also have not had any adverse side effects. I hope Enbrel works as well for you as it does for me. Sue On Apr 4, 2009, at 11:58 PM, shellvil wrote: > Hi, my name's . Guest guest
So far so good... Thank you. One question; I get welts after the injections; will those subside after a while? They feel like monster mosquito bites. > > > Hi, my name's . This is the first time i've ever joined a > > support > > group. I've been living with RA for about 10 years. Guest guest
, sometimes I get a mild injection reaction, about like a very mild mosquito bite. I use the twice-weekly 25mg Enbrel that I mix myself. Since it has notpreservatives, it may cause fewer reactions. After I inject, if it gets red and itchy, I put some kind of anti-itch medication on the site, and by the next day it's fine. Sarna lotion is good, and recently I've been using some Gold Bond anti-itch medication. I don't get an injection reaction every time, just occasionally. I don't know why it's this way. Guest guest
Hi , Does your needle cover contain Latex as some people are allergic to that. Also if you inject quite slowly it might lesson the reaction. x > So far so good... Thank you. One question; I get welts after the > injections; will those subside after a while? Guest guest
Hidibug (cute name) -Thanks for all the welcomes. This is the coolest thing i've done in a long time. It feels like i will get more information here, than the hundreds of hours i spend looking things up and getting no where. --Im going to stick to the biologicals for a while. They seem to be working. --I was on methotrexate for about a year.... eight little pills, once a week; took so much out of me for a couple of days, not to mention, had several flare-ups during that treatment. Had better luck with arava, which came after. ---If that helps you any. Thanks again, -- In , Heidi Mendelsohn <hmendelsohn@...> wrote: > > Hi > Welcome to the group. Guest guest
if it is enbrel you can switch to 2 25 mg unmixed injections. you need to mix powder in solution before you inject. these ddo not contain preservative like the mixed enbrel injs. do. this way there is much less chance of an injection site reaction. i don't get any. monique So far so good... Thank you. One question; I get welts after the injections; will those subside after a while? They feel like monster mosquito bites.
