Guest guest
Hi all, I haven't been very active the last few weeks, just kept reading all the mail and then being either too tired or busy or frantic to write. To night I can't sleep so thought I'd get this off my chest. As you know Warren broke his hip about 6 weeks ago and had surgery to replace it. The surgery went fine and he is able to walk with a walker with someone nearby pretty well. The major thing that happened is that they took all his meds (Florinef, Proamatine) away and wouldn't start them again until after he got home, when I contacted our Primary Dr. His blood pressure is so low again its like starting all over. He's very weak, dizzy and quite confused, especially at night. He passed out on me while sitting on the commode. I called 911 and they took him in to a different hospital as the ambulances receiving was closed at our normal one. The dr at ER couldn't find anything wrong other than SDS sosent him home. I've been on phone with dr's office every day for a week and they have been increasing his dosage of Florinef until now they're back to the 4 a day. Today, Friday, he almost fell again when trying to get to the commode (very close to bed) by freezing and not being able to move. It so happened the Dr's office called me and I told them what was happening, Dr said call 911, so I did. At the hospital the ER dr questioned my reason for calling 911. I told them Dr. told me to, so I did. Noone knows about this SDS and she was confused until I told her everything that was happening. She said " Why can't they help him " , well of course I told her there was no cure but Dr's were trying to make life better by trying to control the b/p. They couldn't find anything " wrong " either so sent us home. Makes me wonder why call 911 or if I don't what happens. Unfortunately, I've been fighting bronchitis which went into pneumonia so am really worn to a frazzle. My dr. said I not putting you in hospital because of Warren, but you have to get more rest. I've been too sick to try to talk with some agencies that the Home P/T has given me but believe me I'm doing Monday morning first thing, I've finally realized I can't do it all by myself. Sorry to be so long winded but needed to get this off my chest. Thanks for your support.
Guest guest
you are right .... you have to get some help from the VNA or other agency .... it is hard to remember to take care of yourself first .... but try to remember that 'selfishness' is ' taking care of oneself' so that you can be of help to others .... if not you- who? don't forget to call on Monday to get someone in to help ... pulling for you, sheila
